Put a cup of warm water in a clean glass container.
Add a teaspoon of yeast
Add:
1 Tablespoon of sugar
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 tablespoon of malt extract.
Stir gently with a non-metallic spoon
Cover with a loose-woven fabric that air can get through but that will
keep insects out, and store in a warm place.
Tiny bubbles will appear when fermentation begins. When froth appears,
the yeast starter is ready to use.
