Experimented a bit with RPP. No, I don't want to complain - it is a fantastic software.

However, in the manual it says that the VCDMF algorithm is better and faster than ACDMF. I always had some images with artifacts in images when there were displays, logos or signs. So today I tried - for the first time - the AHDMF algorithm. No more jaggy text. Big surprise. I don't mind if the conversion need a couple of seconds longer than the VCDMF.

Seeing this post was about 2.5 years ago I curious what you use now? What gives you better results?

I am still using RPP for critical RAW development. For standard development I use Nikon NX-D, which unfortunately does have a severe bug in white balance and other functions.

Interesting I have also started using a NX-D RPP mixed workflow. Agree ND-X does have bugs but I do like the results and other features make it a bit easier workflow wise (ie noise removal, lens correction, GUI with batch copy/paste of settings). I still find myself coming back to RPP for individual images or small batches.

RPP does have batch capabilities.

Neither noise reduction nor lens geometry / vignetting corrections work well with raw data. The processing for those is performed over full-colour bitmaps, after the conversion. There is a plethora of applications for lens corrections that work over TIFFs, same with noise reduction. You may like some of those more than Silkypix / NX-D

Iliah,

I am still having problems with FRV - hitting 'R' still does not send the modified settings from FRV to RPP...

Do you have the box in Preferences - Other - Write RPPS files... checkmarked?

Yes, I have checked it.

The exposure correction is not transferred...

Have you looked at page 42 of FastRawViewer manual? Above that, I can't say much without seeing rpps file.

Iliah, can you recommend a Mac application that will make lens corrections and noise reduction on TIFF files?

I only know of DXO Pure Raw and, if I'm not mistaking, it's meant for Raw files.

Thanks,
Daniel

Nevermind, I never noticed that PS has a lens correction filter.
