To follow up - If I enable “Automatically open all supported TIFFs” in the Camera Raw preferences (Preferences > Camera Raw > File Handling) the TIFF made by RPP will get passed to PS and will open in the Adobe Camera Raw interface. I can then simply click “Open” in the ACR interface and the TIFF is now opened in the Photoshop editing interface.
Weird. Also, just as an FYI (it is supposed to work in the following way) when the TIFF from RPP passes through the ACR interface, any output specifications for raw conversion specified in the ACR interface (like the output color space and the bit depth) get applied to the TIFF coming from RPP. So, if I render the TIFF in RPP in, say, sRGB 16 bit, and send it to PS, it will open in the ACR interface - if I have ACR configured to render raw files into AdobeRGB 16 bit, when I click “Open” for the TIFF in ACR, it will open in PS as AdobeRGB. Just a heads up for anyone else encountering this issue and using this workaround.
I do not prefer opening TIFFs in PS through the ACR interface, but whatever. Better than nothing at this point.
Prior to using the ACR workaround, I also tried giving PS “Full Disk Access” in the system’s Security Settings, but it did not change anything, and the error parsing TIFFs in PS still occurred.
