Hi folks,

I'm testing out our project on a very low end Virtual Server -> 1 gig ram + crap other stuff. Now, it works .. but it's just slow.

I've got 8.8 million docs and 10 indexes right now. Some of those indexes are against the 8.8 million docs .. not all.

Anyways, if I want to run all the Indexes on my own development server, which has 8gig ram, some cores, etc... that seems to work a lot faster. Now, is there any trick in moving this data from my local machine up to my Virtual Server? I mean, it's a 1 second task for me 7zip the data folder, FTP up to Virtual Server, unzip and point raven to that folder.

Is that acceptable? meaning .. the Essent or Munin version of the db on my win7 machine is completely compatible with the windows server 2008 r2, etc etc. I think i read somewhere in these groups, recently that there's some incomp issues with win 7 v win server ?

Or is this what smuggler is for?

BTW, i'm not -adding- any data. it's a complete over-write, data AND indexes.

if that made any sense

Justin,
No, it isn't compatible. The problem is that it isn't just the esent version, but also the unicode collation support, etc.

So if we do the zip/Unzip data directory backup or use the built in raven.backup.exe then this has to be 'restored' to the same OS. eg. win7 -> win 7 or win2k8r2 -> win28kr2 ?
