Hi,

I keep receiving the following error for different databases over and over again causing al sorts of problems in my application.
I'm running the latest version on a server that has more than enough resources and I've already changed the timeout from 5 to 30 seconds.

Could not open database named: [Database] System.TimeoutException: The database [Database] is currently being loaded, but after 30 seconds, this request has been aborted. Please try again later, database loading continues. at Raven.Database.Server.Controllers.RavenDbApiController.TrySetupRequestToProperResource(RequestWebApiEventArgs& args)

I would realy like to know why this takes so long and how I can prevent this..
Any suggestions?

Kind Regards,

Ron Brouwer

This most frequently occurs from a database having a dirty shutdown.

Hi,

I don't think thats the problem. The RavenDB server is running stable as a windows service.
The server currently holds about 300 databases. The databases are very small with less than 50 documents and a single static index.

Can someone tell me how I can analyse this problem?

Thanks

Did the windows host reboot without you specifically calling stop on the ravendb service?

Are you running in azure?
If you are shutting down dbs (because they are idle), and suddenly have a burst of many dbs starting at once, we may be over capacity for the I/O.

As an Azure user I can confirm that if you are not running on premium storage (SSD) but instead standard storage (SAS) then starting up Raven on a lot of DB's can take a very long time.
We have a few hundred databases and it takes around 15 minutes to fully load every database.
Yet to move to premium storage which we will be soon.

Has testing on premium storage shown a difference [vs the theory of premium storage being faster]?

Has tested D class vms for indexing purposes and if Premium storage latency is similar to the "local ssd" you should expect a massive difference on performance.
