Anything in the event log?
Can you try downloading again?

Hi all,

Just downloaded the latest stable release (for the first time in awhile) and unzipped.
But everytime I run start.cmd or raven.server.exe manually, it pops up with a "Raven.Server.Exe has stopped working...." error.

Only thing I can find is in the windows event logs:

Faulting application name: Raven.Server.exe, version: 2.0.2261.0, time stamp: 0x5114c38e

Im running Windows 8, 64bit.

Has anyone experienced this before?

Did you unblock the zip file file before extracting it?

Hmmm. I setup new instances all the time. I never use start. Always raven.server.exe. And I always unblock the zip file before extracting.

Hmmmmm. Disable antivirus?

This thread looks like your issue. It suggests a hardware problem.

Gives a lot hits about problems with performance monitor.
Maybe the counters got corrupted? We have had a few on this list with this problem.

Another thing might by a virusscanner. If you have one running, try to shut it down see if that helps?

I ruled out antivirus. But after investigating, I fear it is some possible OS corruption, particularly around repairing performance counters.
Maybe its a good excuse for a reformat!
Thanks for your help.
