Would there be any problems moving from version 701 to the latest version by just stopping the service, backing up the /data dir, installing the new version, and starting it?
I'm guessing if the backend is ESENT, there is no signficant versioning probs, but since this is a prod system I just want to be sure.

Thanks
Aaron

RavenDB handles any ESENT schema changes internally, so you might see a slow startup the first time.

However there have been some breaking changes between b701 and the latest, so you need to look out for those. See  https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!searchin/ravendb/breaking$20change

Also, I'd recommend trying it out on a test system first. I.e. make a copy of you data, run the latest RavenDB build against the copy and check it works in staging, before changing production.

Make sure the test system is the same OS as the production. Win 2008 R2 -> Win 2008 R2, Win 2008 -> Win 2008 etc. Otherwise you can introduce new problems due to the OS level differences in esent.
