I use bluestacks as the emulator for debuging and testing android apps with eclipse. But the problem is that I cannot run apps in portrait mode in bluestacks. All the apps run just in landscape mode even I "changed app size" in settings to both "tablet" view and "default" view. (I am worried that my bluestacks version-beta version- has only those two modes and the "phone" view and "Large phone" view is missing- what is the reason for it? Does original versions have more views?)However once when I changed the "LinkedIn" app view to "default", it was displayed in portrait mode on the emulator, but the whole emulator had rotated 90 degrees, so that was no use..! Please help me. I want bluestacks in Portrait !!!
The best alternative I found was to use "Youwave Android" instead of Bluestacks as an emulator. Youwave is provided the facility to change the orientation easily( but it configuring it is bit tricky and difficult).
I have the same problem here. I tried to change the screen orientation of the android launcher in bluestacks as well as its main settings. You might have to work with your coding to program its screen orientation. This link might help you as well. Force "portrait" orientation mode

I am trying to give my emulator a 4'7 screen size (I don't know the height and width dimentions). At the moment I am trying to set it in the AVD manager. Then I am trying to edit one of the available emulator. This isn't working. Is there a better way to do it?
There a couple solutions you can try:There is a tool called stacksTweak around the forums which you can google. It didn't work for me though (it worked for others so it is worth trying). registry edit only resize the screen and then you are left with smaller screen. but the problem is that the content of the app is not configured accordingly as it happen in real mobile. also it doesn't provide you the scroll bar at top or bottom to see the screen which is not visible at front.
I've tried the regedit method (all references to seem to be out of date, since I have GuestHeight/Width and WindowHeight/Width instead of just "Height" and "Width"). I can get the loading screen to come up with my specified dimensions, but after initialization it reverts the size back to something else. I did make sure to kill all the bluestacks processes via the task manager. I'm in windows 7, and I should mention i have 3 screens, one of which is a different resolution.
I want to know which size of VM should I create that runs bluestacks with high performance and is the cheapest option while selecting the VM Size. I want to select cheapest VM that satisfies requirements for bluestack.

As per the system requirements, you can go for a Standard D2s v3 VM size that has an 8 GB RAM and 2 vCPUs and satisfies the minimum requirements for running Bluestacks 5.

i have a problem concerning controlclick. id like to start an app on bluestacks , but it works only when the windows was activated earlier. so in fact its not a real controlclick, but i would like it to be clicked when the bluestacks window is hidden.. does anybody has a trick on how to use the controlclick function right ? propably im doing it wrong, and i hope so. im afraid its the problem of bluestacks itself ? but what would be the purpose of controlclick if it doesnt work on programs ?
Hello all, I have a 2016 Macbook Pro laptop that has around 22gb of free space on the hard drive, but every time I try to open an app. using Bluestacks, it gives me an error saying there is an upgrade of some sort, but not enough space on device??
I am confused by this honestly, because there is a wealth of free space on the hard drive, for what turns out to be a 60 - 600 mb update. I can still open the application, but I have to click Try Again shown, and then choose Cancel, which works, and continues to open the application.
Can someone explain to me why I am getting the error please?? Does the Bluestacks use a MASSIVE amount of disk space to begin an update, or something?? Else, is it talking about me not having enough RAM memory??
As Ronasara has pointed out, a drive with low free disk space will stop running properly. One reason for this is that some software uses more than the physical available memory and hence has to page to disk. For instance, software that requires 4 GB physical memory simply to execute, but needs to use 16 GB while running, will need use disk space for that additional 12 GB if your Mac does not have 16 GB physical memory available. Bluestacks recommends 8 GB physical memory, but even if you have that, the MacOS and other software may be using most of that, hence disk space is needed far above the 600 MB you mention above to run the software.
Bluestacks is gaming software and I expect that means its memory (and disk space requirements could grow very large when in use. They are possibly restricting installation only to systems that appear to have at least the recommended resources available so the software can be used in a reasonable way.Hence the installer may be looking for 32 GB free disk space and 8 GB physical memory.
The Bluestacks installer may be enforcing the above minimums to avoid getting complaints from users that Bluestacks is crashing their computers, or is running very slowly, or freezes. I suspect that that disk space free requirement is not to accommodate the much smaller download, but to ensure that the program is actually usable after it is installed.
I have some thoughts to share with you. An update (of any app) requires a certain amount of free space to download to. After it's downloaded, it then will typically overwrite the old app. We can discuss how to evaluate how much space you do or do not have, but your app needs more for whatever reason. Second point. If you allow your hard drive to get too full, the computer will stop functioning. It appears that you may be at the point where it behooves you to either clear out some files to make more available space, or you need to install an external disk. (Which I recommend.) Then you can transfer files onto it and delete them from the hard drive to clear needed space. These days, external drives are available in all sizes at reasonable prices. They are very compact, unlike those older models, and easy to install with provided USB cables. Most of them do not require external power. Sometimes, you may have to reformat the drive, though. That's what I recommend. Easy to do and problem solved.
This thing is ridiculous, I mean, I do not know how many friggin TERABYTES of disk space is needed for this thing to just finish an update that ends up only needing like 100 mb of space, but it is getting to be tiresome now. I moved a TON of files / folders that I wanted to keep off my laptop and onto an external drive, and it still was not enough for the buggy piece of garbage application.
It seems to be the greediest, most resource hogging application in the universe, and every single month it wants to do an new upgrade that requires exponentially more free space to even start, but then when it is finished, it turns out it was only a 160mb update. So, what in the world did it need 100gb of free space for a 160mb update for??
