This looks fantastic! I was pretty bummed when I found out the native app was going away but I think this will be be a lot better! Search has always been so cumbersome, I love the idea of being able to use my phone! Already donated, thanks again!

Shut up and take my money!! ? I was more than a little upset when I got the message that Netflix was abandoning WMC. After mine stopped working, as they said it would, I waiting about a week and then used some Google-fu to see if anyone had come up with a solution. Imagine my surprise when I found not only a way to restore the old Netflix app, but an app for Amazon Prime video AND a plan to make an even better Netflix app.

Awesome! I just donated for your effort alone. I plan to donate more if the app actually comes to fruition.
I also do some development, so I would be happy to contribute or do testing if needed.
Thanks again!

Marc,
Glad to see this is progressing. I am using your patch currently for Netflix in WMC, but had a hic-up today (kept saying no interent connection when I did have one) that got me worried.
I just donated because of the patch you did, and if this comes out, that will be awesome. As said above, having actual support instead of a workaround will be very reassuring.

Downloaded and installed Build 20151130 on two computers. Can not get it to work on either WMC. Goes to the red Netflix screen, stays there of a few seconds, flashes to the netflix login screen, then screen changes to gray screen telling me to make sure I have logged in and hit the green button. Yes I have logged into the account before running.

Thank you. It worked for the most part. I had to restart it a couple of times after having to give premissions. Also flashed an error message about 5 seconds going into the netflix menu for the first time. After the third attempt I was able to start a movie. I did notice that when the movie started I lost my mouse. Is that normal? I will check back to see if the beta has been updated. Thanks again..

I did get it working on windows 10, it kept complaining about silverlight not being installed, went to the history in internet explorer (where it was trying to download it). The link it was attempt to use was: =149156
I then ran the installation and the netflix MCE app worked ?

Thanks! This plugin is looking better and better. However, I am interested to understand the reason for using mongoose.exe webserver. What purpose does it serve? Can we not launch a browserWindow in fullscreen and control using MCE remote? Something like the MCEWebView plugin?

Thanks for a quick response. Thats what I thought it was used for. Will you consider branching this plugin in two versions, one supporting mobile search app and one without mongoose webserver that only supports MCE remote?

Tonight the app seems to no longer be working. Gives either the login needed screen even if already logged in or the script error popup. Note that I have not allowed windows updates in a long time on this machine so It should not be the bad windows update problem.

Hi, I like this plugin very much but I have a problem with it: As I live in Austria, a german speaking country, I want to watch the videos in german. But the videos always start within the plugin in english language with german subtitles. On the netflix homepage under settings, I have german as the default language. I also find no way within the plugin to change the language of the Video per remote control.
Thank you for your help!

Hi,

Hi,
I have just updated to the last 1.0 Beta Version. When I start the plugin I get a script error window on the first Screen when I press the upper or the lower key on the remote. So I can only navigate with the mouse

Having an issue where launching the Netflix App within WMC gives me no control with my Harmony remote. Any button I press to move around on the Netflix causes it to go back to WMC main menu while forcing the Netflix page to the background. Only way to get rid of it is to start task manager and force close it. Any suggestions?

Hey Marc Love the app but the latest release does not allow me to search on my phone. It just returns to the search screen. I would really prefer to search on the screen rather than have another device to add to my arsenal of remotes. Any chance something new is coming

Hey Marc, Love the app and a I really appreciate all the hard work you have put into it! I will be donating. One question with Remote use.My remote works fine UNTILL I launch a video. after that there is no control what-so ever . No pause play ff rw anything. am I doing something wrong or is this still in the works. Also I love your Amazon Plugin. Works flawlessly. Any chance of a Hulu App?

Love the app way better than the WMC version Im still running. Just wish I could get the Registry entry to control the monitor it defaults to working. My main monitor is 1, but TV is monitor 3 with WMC. When launched the app goes to monitor 1 :(. Tried multiple variations of registry edits as documented in the README. Could not get it to work. Standing by and will keep checking for a fix in future version. thanks for your hard work Marc (use Amazon too).

DRM issues are almost always related to your setup; be sure IE11 on your PC can play the same video from the netflix website. If it does; email me a screenshot of the error and the name of the video you were trying to play and I will test. sup...@sharepointadept.com

Hi Bobby; the search app was released but later removed due to an exploit found in the 3rd party web server component I was using. Rather than risk further issues I replaced the app with an on-screen remote friendly keyboard for doing the search.

Validate with: Run Netflix via edge Browser or native Windows App, Pick a 4k/HDR program, play, press SHFT-CTRL-ALD-D to see diagnostics. Observe resolution is only 1920x1080 instead of 4k. Note that to be able to play in Edge Browser you should in before have also enabled PlayReady via "edge://flags".

The last three lines are the problems. They show there is no HDCP 2.2 support, HDR10 support or 4k support. This is specifically for PlayReady rendering via edge of course, but the Netflix app does of course also use PlayReady.

Its mindboggling now negligent Intel is about this and how Intel does not seem to care about the frustration this creates with customers (ok: with me. Don't want to talk for others). NVidia has HDCP 2.2 status in its control panel.

Of course, Netflix is equally annoying. They also do not have any user information about whether or not HDCP 2.2 is supported. Netflix app/web-page just don't show 4K and HDR logos on the media when it does not detect HDCP 2.2 support.

My suspicion is that HDCP 2.2 with Intel iGPU (even all those 11th/12th gen iGPU with built-in HDMI 2.0!) will not work unless the device manufacturer goes through a lot of additional BIOS/ME work and maybe even other hassles. And seemingly none of the lower cost mini pc vendors has done this. I say this, because beelink for example is also missing the Windows 3D mode setting, and the ak1plus box does not even support HDMI 2.0 18 Gbps solutions, but only the 10Gbps resolution of 3180x2160@60Hz - but then of course without HDR. Aka: all the details of video output that seemingly with Intel iGPU are part of (video) BIOS.

On AMD APU, it looks to me as if this is all only in the AMD driver, and i have not seen any hardware with AMD iGPU that has managed to NOT deliver 3D, 18Gbps or HDR. In fact, motherboards built before Ryzen was out and claimed to support only HDMI 1.4 where later updated in documentation to also support HDMI 2.0, because Ryzen then supported HDMI 2.0 and the pin is just pased from APU to HDMI connector. And i was hoping the same would be true now with 11th/12th gen Intel iGPU. Alas, seemingly not.

I did take a look at the event viewer, but i could never find a HDCP related message, such as from the intel driver hdcp process. If you can provide any example HDCP error related event messages that would be great. I will contend, that the intel HDCP process does not emit any error messages, and hence diagnostics is impossible until i see examples of such error messages. Obviously i also think Intel documentation should document such error messages, and i have found no such documentation either.

When testing with Windows 10 i always had the HEVC extension installed. I may have even installed it on WIndows 11 during testing, but i did verify, that my AMD iGPU computer with just a bare installation of Windows 11 and the AMD drivers included in it does run Netflix UHD/HDR and edge://gpu does show HDCP 2.2 support. The Microsoft Store page also explicity says that the HEVC extensions are for Windows 10 (only) and do not mention Windows 11. Windows 10 is being retired in 2025, so of course it is a lot more important to get HDCP 2.2 work with Intel iGPU on Windows 11 now.

Any good diagnostics in an Intel program such as the control center should be able to tell the user what exactly is missing for HDCP 2.2 to work. The fact alone that we have this convoluted discussion is a show to me that Intel is not doing a good job supporting diagnostics for user of such an important feature.

I would also like to hear an answer what exact requirements a PC using a gen 11/ gen 12 Intel CPU/iGPU needs to have to be able to support HDCP 2.2: Is HDCP 2.2 support something that requires specific support in the PC BIOS or VBIOS ? Or is this something that only depends on the Intel Driver and the other, non-PC-firmware dependent aspects you mentioned ? I do well understand that older Intel iGPU requiring LSPCON did depend on that LSPCON firmware for HDCP 2.2 to work well, as do of course gen 11/12 iGPU depend on this when using DP or USB-C with external HDMI adapters. So my question is specifically only to on-board HDMI connectors into a gen11/12 Intel iGPU.
