I'm running XP Pro SP3 totally up to date. I wanted to do a 30 day evaluation of WindowBlinds so I could compare it with StyleXP and the Windows Customization features of TuneUp and decide which to buy. I downloaded WindowBlinds640_public.exe from filehippo.com and installed it. When I tried to run it, I got the error dialog box which reads "This version of Stardock WindowBlinds has expired. Please download the latest version from www.stardock.com" Clicking the OK button takes me to a WindowBlinds purchase-only window; no 30 day free trial version (public) available. I uninstalled WindowBlinds, rebooted and ran a registry cleaner. Then I downloaded WindowBlinds_6_4_Build_73.exe from apphit.com, compared it with the WindowBlinds640_public.exe file I downloaded from filehippo.com using WinDiff, and found that they're the same EXE file. I installed WindowBlinds_6_4_Build_73.exe and got the same error dialog box again, saying the version I installed has expired.

BTW, clicking the Download button under Free at takes me to -20_4-10026826.html?spi=f16b21d14cdee5b916b63911fcf1dc64, which has a button to download WindowBlinds6_public.exe -- that's WindowBlinds 6.0 folks; of course that's an expired version. Tell cnet to get up to date with their links.

Building owners may charge tenants for the installation and cost of window guards in their apartments, but they may not charge for window guards in public areas. If you move out before paying for window guards in full, you must pay the balance immediately. Your building owner may deduct the remaining unpaid portion from your security deposit.

Stardock has announced the latest version of its Windows skinning and customization app -- WindowBlinds 11 -- and has also released a public beta version for anyone to try out. The tool makes it possible to change the look and feel of the Windows 11 Start menu, taskbar and much more.

Stardock announced WindowBlinds 11, an app that allows Windows users to customize the look and feel of their taskbars, window frames, and other aspects of their Windows 10 and Windows 11 PC desktops. A public beta that allows Windows users to try the popular customization app before it officially releases is available now.

Honestly, if there are so many limitations in 11 you cant get around. I think its time that you look into bringing back Objectbar and Right click. These would fit so well with windows 11 and would tie in really nicely with windowblinds11. It would allow bypassing all the shortcomings of windows 10/11

SED has many publications in which we stress the design, maintenance, and compliance for a second means of egress. This important safety requirement was instituted as a result of the 1954 Cleveland Hill School Fire in which several students and teachers were killed as a result of windows being nailed shut. Our publications include:

These standards are called "voluntary," though that term is misleading, explain both Nathanson and Joe Martyak, the CPSC director of communications. Once adopted and enforced, manufacturer compliance is mandatory. "Voluntary" refers to industry's voluntary participation in the process of developing guidelines, which also speeds them up. Federally mandated standards take a long time to develop and pass, require a public comment period and take even longer to modify.

Venetian Blinds was created as a tongue-in-cheek in-joke in 1982 relating to a then-ongoing lawsuit between Activision and Atari, Inc. about use of Whitehead's Venetian blinds technique. It was not released publicly until 2003, as part of Activision Anthology for Windows, macOS, and Game Boy Advance. It was later released in 2010 through the Game Room retrogaming service for Windows, Xbox 360, and Windows Phone 7.

Venetian Blinds was brought by Activision to the 1982 Consumer Electronics Show at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois, but it was not on public display. Crane privately displayed the demo to people familiar with the lawsuit, and asked them, "Is this what Atari means by the Venetian Blind Technique?"[2][1] A rumor is that these people were Atari's lawyers, who had approached Crane about the Venetian blinds technique;[3][4] however, this was a misreporting from the Atari history fansite AtariProtos, which had first revealed the existence of Venetian Blinds on the Internet on October 18, 2002, per information from an Activision employee to AtariProtos site owner Matt Reichert.[2][1]

Venetian Blinds was not intended for public release and, aside from private displays of the game at the 1982 Consumer Electronics Show, was otherwise unknown to the public. The sunset technique used in Venetian Blinds was eventually reused in Barnstorming.[1]

Venetian Blinds was first officially released to the public in late 2003, when it was included as part of the Windows, macOS, and Game Boy Advance ports of Activision Anthology. These ports include Crane's information on the game's background.[2][1]

The study "should be a huge wake-up call to the public, to the retailers, to the manufacturers and to parents all over the nation to really see how hazardous the cords on the blinds are," said Linda Kaiser of St Louis. Her 1-year-old daughter died in 2002 from strangulation when she pulled a looped hidden cord from a blind and put it around her neck. Kaiser later formed the advocacy group Parents for Window Blind Safety.
