Have you tried installing OSX on an older vintage machine recently? Well, I came across a unique problem when trying to upgrade my HDD to an SSD on my Vintage 2009 iMac. I thought I would share my experience and potential work around to get OSX high Sierra (the latest compatible OSX for my system) working on my iMac (2009).

Firstly after coming from a windows environment where you can grab a ISO and just create a bootable disk quite easily. However on a new Mac (I currently use the new M3 MacBook Pro) it is impossible to download High Sierra thought the mac store unless you have an eligible machine.

It seemed quite a simple solution initially, and that I would download Sierra and then upgrade after a successful install. Again this proved fruitless as the ISO that I downloaded just had a .pkg file in the .dmg not a bootable usb drive!

I managed find a copy that someone had shared online (this is defo not recommended but I was frustrated after hours of getting nowhere), I was concerned about the download having a virus etc. But the website seemed legit and as this wasn't my main machine, I thought why not!

Below is the custom commands I then used in terminal to create the boot disk. The first step removes the signature error you receive when trying the run the command in step 2, so by doing the modification in step 1, it then in turn allows the installer to run in step 2.

Unfortunately, I came across an issue after trying to install the OS. It stated the install was corrupted, but after doing some research I found out this was due to the install being too old and apple adds a signature to the OSX download which keeps it current, again another annoying step to work around!

i have downloaded and cannot install Adobe CS 5.5 on my newly upgraded macOS high sierra 10.13.4. Is CS5.5 compatible? The installer says there are missing files and I have searched the forums with no real answers. Can anyone help?

Alas, I had to upgrade my old HDD to a SSD and reinstalled OSX10.12.6, but when I installed my Adobe CS5.5, I was not able to register the product, or authenticate the softwar getting a "Cannot Connect to server, check you're connected to the internet". I checked and I was. I contacted Adobe support, and they got me to do some connection tests, and all checked out.

The last email I got back, was them welling me to download CS6 and install that, as CS5.5 is no longer supported. Unfortunately, what they missed to mention, was that my CS5.5 Licence would not authenticate CS6... Not very good advice from their support experts.

I've reached the end of the road, and support have fogged me off to here. My Mac Mini is still a very good machine, and super fast now with an SSD. The OS, all-be-it a little old by Mac standards, is still operational and suitable for all my needs with using my paid Adobe Retails purchased software. I cannot see the justification for paying the cost of their cloud-based service, as that is way out of my budget. Because of these problems, I have been looking at a number of Open Source programs since Adobe don't much care for their customers at the end of the day. I hate how big tech wants us to live in a throw-away society. Like I said, my hardware, and software when the Adobe CS5.5 was working before the SSD Upgrade, so it's a problem with Adobe not wanting to let us to continue to authenticate their older software any more. I'm not impressed with them for this.

No red light and the fireface is in Mac-Mode :-)
The system report shows the fireface uc on USB-Bus.
the 3.03 driver installation: successful
In TotalMix: It's not possible to open a window.
The FlashTool starts. But the the update process doesn't work.
The Fireface USB-Settings looks different: No Gain-Faders

Check the correct firmware version by a double click on the rotary encoder button. The
display PC means Windows, the display AP means Mac. The double click automatically
switches between both versions. Note: a change of state is only possible when the unit is
not connected to the computer.

Yes I have read the PDF and installing the new driver is not the problem. I have installed it several times actually. The problem is that my computer can not communicate with the Fireface UC. It doesn't show up in either system settings or in my DAW.

hi, I have a similar problem, new computer with high sierra.
I installed 3.03 & did the approval as described in 'Help for High Sierra Installation', but it didn't work.
maybe I didn't approve within 30mins of install but I've tried to remove drivers & everything else & reinstall but without success.

Reason I'm asking: I was trying out a weekend project to make a tool that would automatically parse an apple catalog XML for you, find the different mac builds in it and download the files of whichever one you choose (and automatically rename InstallESDDmg.pkg and update InstallInfo.plist). So I wanted to figure out the exact process of extracting the different macOS files and versions from the catalog

@fusion71au I followed the instructions for the installer, but when I boot to Clover and select the Mac partition it shows the Apple Logo, then reboots my system and bounces me back to the Clover screen - this loops continuously. I had previously installed using VMWare and the command line following some of your other posts, but now I'm looking for a dual boot solution so I can leverage my GPU. Any idea what would cause the loop of Clover > Apple Logo > Restart > Clover? Just need an idea of how to troubleshoot. I'm a complete n00b when it comes to Clover.

I ve been through some of the steps. I restored the hfs file to the second partition. Then on trying to extend the partition to the maximum, I cant do that. The software suggested here is paid. So i tried using alternatives. I get the error that "no partition table found on this device."

My macbook had lost its OS.. actually i accidently deleted some files, I had dual boot with bootcamp windows and I was able to recover my files. But default recovery was unable to access my internal hard-drive. Because in my macbook pro mid-15, "sierra"recovery was avaialble and sierra doesn't recognize Nvme ssd used with an adapter. So I had to have at least mojave that can recognize M.2 Nvme ssd with adapter.

I am at wits end here. Does anyone know which version of Pulse Secure works with the macOS High Sierra? I have tried several 5.x and 9.x, but none of it works. My SRX550 is using OS 12.44 or something to this effect.

Pulse Secure used to be a part of Juniper but was seperated and became it's own company many moons ago. So offical support for Pulse Secure products is more a Pulse themselves issue to be fair. Pulsesecure.net is the website.

That said, this should help - _Secure_Article/KB40752

If not then their KB base search is at _Home?q=high%20sierra&l=en_US

I also tried calling Junos Pulse Support, and they referred me to contact Juniper.Net as Juniper would have the correct version of the software. Do you know where I can find the versions in the articles?

Since the divestiture the software can't be publicly distributed but has to be accessed via JTAC support for the versions that Juniper is allowed to provide to licensed users. You will need to open a case to get the downloads or convert to the new vendor NCP.

The current situation is problematic. I don't use SRX remote access but the pulse secure products so I can't say for certain. But I do know that each of the last three MacOS upgrades all required an upgrade of the pulse secure client to continue to function.

And after High Sierra launch there were reports on both Pulse forums and here of issues connecting to SRX with that client. It appears that both Pulse and Juniper feel the fix is with the other company. I am not certain there is a fix as I don't use the system and have not seen a post confirming a working setup.

I must first congratulate you guys on helping others install and solve macOs issue on pc.. My issue has been a trouble for me for long time, i have successfully installed Mac OS Sierra (10.12) following this guide.. -guide-run-macos-sierra-on-a-dell-latitude-e6320/ and doesn't work for high sierra and making High Sierra work in my machine is a big issue for me.

There is no guide anywhere for high sierra for my model dell E6320, i have downloaded macOs High Sierra 10.13.1 and macOs High Sierra 10.13.6, currently my machine has macOs 10.12 i want to upgrade to 10.13.6 or even doing fresh install of 10.13.6

USB drive flashes light as normal if something is going on the flash then flashing stops and nothing happens.. stuck on Apple Logo, even if i wait for more than 1 hour nothing changes here than apple logo..

Released in 2017, macOS High Sierra (version 10.13) is the fourteenth major release of macOS. It focuses on performance improvements and technical updates rather than user features. Some of these improvements are as follows:

If you want to install macOS High Sierra on your device, you should download macOS High Sierra installer first. In general, you can go to App Store to search and download macOS High Sierra installer. However, some people report that they fail to find the macOS High Sierra download in App Store.

After the download is complete, the installer will open automatically and ask you whether to install it. If the current macOS is higher than macOS High Sierra, you should decline. Otherwise, the installer will be deleted.
