The rattle book appears to be missing some chapters. I’m looking for information on how to do survival analysis with Rattle. The survival guide for data mining that is out on the togaware site is for data mining with R not with Rattle. I’m looking for better directions on how to use the interface not the scripting language.

Survival Analysis is not covered in the Rattle book and is only minimally supported in Rattle.

On the Data tab, after loading a dataset, choose the Target Data Type as Survival. You can then choose the Time variable (time to event) and the Status variable (binary). Click Execute. Then on the Model tab Execute to build a Cox PH model. Some survival plots are then available. The Log tab shows the R commands if you need to do more, and ?coxph will provide further details.

Well the hard part was understanding what the algorithm was actually expecting because the terms used are a little different. I watched these three videos:

I was trying to match the functions she was using with their GUI equivalent. From my sample data set I couldn’t quite figure out what as supposed to be time and status and if status was also the target variable. I think it would help immensely if I could get definitions of time and status.

I am looking for those chapters too. Specially, on the new packages added.
Thanks to Dr Graham for his answer.
