Astitle says, my pc is offline. Origin on login just says "Well that didn't go as planned! Origin encountered an issue loading this page." Fine. I can still launch games. I can't view my library of games but can launch them from the small icon in my task bar.

However, I am having some issues with my Sims 4 game (can't see Sims in Cas and no edit options) and need to try and repair my game. Apparently there's no way to do so without being able to view your library, so I can't fix EITHER issue. :/

@Razrroth What you've described is normal behavior for Origin. It won't load your game library without an internet connection, but even if it did, that wouldn't help here. In order to repair a game, Origin needs to have a connection so it can check the game files against what's stored on EA servers, and replace missing or corrupted elements as necessary.

Each time I close origin and open it back up all of my game packs starts to auto repair. This happens whether I shut my computer down and reboot or just close out origin and immediately open it back up. It started doing his after the Sims 4 November update. I have disabled in game surveys, I've uninstalled Origin and my full game and redownloaded them.

If that doesn't help, disable automatic game updates in Origin. Hover over your username, select Application Settings, and under Application (the first header), scroll down to Client update and disable auto game updates.

@Ariesdiamond1 Mine did the same thing after the update - endless update. I followed the clear Origin cache instructions and that fixed the issue for me. If yours is still doing it try the instructions again.

As the title suggests, I'm wondering if there is a way to run the sims 4 through the new EA app without being forced to update the game. This was possible to do previously using Origin, and I can't find any information online on a way to do this through the EA app.

I don't work or have any association with EA. I give advice to the best of my knowledge and cannot be held responsible for any damage done to your computer/game.

Please only contact me via PM when asked to do so.

Hi, thanks for the reply. This does (sort of) work; however the offline status is reset every time you restart the app. If I for example launch the game through a desktop shortcut, the EA app is then automatically opened in online mode and I have to go through the dropdown menu process to run the game in offline mode each time the game is launched. This also means that the EA client will still automatically run forced updates.

I've been doing this but it doesn't seem to be working anymore. It just keeps trying to open the EA app whenever I try to open the Sims, even though the EA app is already open and offline. I don't want to deal with the new update yet.

I am desperately trying to get my game to start without getting the face squishing update! I was playing fine the other day, then when I was at work my partner switched my graphics card and had to restart the computer. Now it either says my "licence has expired" when I try and launch offline, or that my game is corrupted and I need to repair it. I am pretty sure repairing is the same as updating it. Sometimes nothing simply happen when I click the button to launch.

Product: The Sims 4

Platform:Mac

Which language are you playing the game in? English

How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)

What is your current game version number? 1.75.125.1230

What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All packs except Snowy Escape, Dream Home Decorator, and Paranormal.

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Wait until a repairable item breaks in game - in my save, the toilet broke after a Goofball sim pranked it and another sim used it. Then attempt to have a sim fix the object or hire a repair service. Either way, the sim repairs indefinitely, never finishing the repair. The action only ends when it is cancelled and the object is still broken.

What happens when the bug occurs? Repairable items can not be fixed via the repair or hire a repair service options - sims continue repairing indefinitely with no success.

What do you expect to see? Sims or repair service sims can finish repairing an item after a certain amount of time, resulting in the item being fixed and working functionally again.

Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.

Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes

Please describe the patch or change you made. I have only noticed this issue since the 5/27/21 patch.

I've encountered this before, but since I normally play a spellcaster, who was filthy rich, i can get around it. But now I am doing a rags to riches/off the grid game, and I had my fridge and stove, and they broke in a rainstorm, and now i can not repair them. I finally got his repair high enough that he can do the repair without getting electrocuted, but the thing just hangs

edit - i went to get said spellcaster to repairio the appliances, but when i clicked them, no context menu option for magic came up, and it just said 'electronics won't work in the rain' except... it's not raining. They broke due to rain, but it's not raining anymore.

It happened to me with the stereo from University. I left it outside, then it rained and broke, and I was not able to repair it, its a never ending repair, not bad for building mechanic skill though lol. Also happened with the climbing wall, same thing.

I'm typing this in January 2022 and somehow, this is still a bug 3+ years later. I've found multiple posts across multiple Sims-related forums of others with the same issue dating back at least 3 years. Has anyone figured out how to fix this yet? Could EA please fix the bugs in their games instead of constantly trying to come up with new packs to money grab? I've had this same problem with and without mods so it's not a mod issue but a game issue.

This can be Mod related, specifically Mods that create duplicate worlds of course, but can also happen in a non-modded game. I found a cause earlier and managed to reproduce multiple times. Whilst downloading and installing the Horse Ranch Pack on one of my Macs I decided to launch the game. I received the usual pop-up warning that it may affect the game but chose to ignore it. The game launched ok and I loaded up my save to check something unrelated. I quit the game without saving, I figured that would be a good idea as the pack was installing in the background and it would avoid any potential corruption.

I loaded up the game again and resumed my save. I clicked to go to the world map and saw two Chestnut Ridge worlds (EP14). I immediately quit without saving and trashed the Horse Ranch pack. I then loaded Origin and did a game repair for good measure (can never hurt), then downloaded and installed Horse Ranch again, this time making sure not to load the game whilst it was downloading and installing. That fixed it, no duplicate world.

I quit my game and decided to test it a little further by trashing the High School Years pack (EP12) then launching Origin and loading the game whilst High School Years was re-downloading and installing in the background. This time I had the Game Data Incomplete error message but the game loaded fine into San Myshuno (EP03). I quit the game, again without saving, and waited for Origin to finish installing EP12. I then reloaded and sure enough, there were two Chestnut Ridges in the World Select screen again. I was expecting duplicate Copperdale worlds (EP12) but good to get the same result. I quit, trashed the EP14 folder then re-installed it, everything good again. I then repeated this exercise a couple more times and each time the EP14 world was duplicated.

So if this happens to you, immediately quit without saving then trash the pack folder that contains the duplicate world. You can find the pack folder in the Sims 4 Packs folder which will be in the same location as your base game is installed to, by default this is the User Applications folder:

The first thing to know is that git pull does too much stuff. Well, for some people (me), it does too much; others like that it does this much; but in fact, it does two jobs, each of which has its own separate Git command:

git pull runs git fetch. Most, but not all, of the arguments you give to git pull are passed directly to git fetch. So git pull means run git fetch and git pull origin somebranch means run git fetch origin somebranch.

The reason to have a step 2 at all is simple enough: git fetch obtains new commits from some other Git repository, stuffing those new commits into your own repository where you now have access to them. But then it stops. You have access to the new commits, but nothing is actually using the new commits yet. To use the new commits, you need a second step.

Initially, that second step was always git merge. The git merge command is pretty big and complicated but it has a meaning that's pretty simple to describe: Merge means combine work. Git will attempt to take work you have done, if you have done any, and work they have done, if they have done any, and combine the work, using simple and stupid automated rules. These rules have no clue as to how or why you did the work, or what anything you changed means. They just work based on "lines" in diffs.
