Dear Tim,

I’m an American currently visiting Budapest as part of my winter break between now and January 3, 2026. I saw that you lead the Budapest Rationalist / ACX group, and I was wondering if there are gonna be any meetups or events during the time I’m here.

I realize this is last minute, and I expect the answer to be no, but I figured it’s worth asking. I’m always excited to meet members of the international Rationalist community!

I'm thinking about noon either tomorrow or on Friday.

Tomorrow might be harder to find a good venue for us that's open and neither cold nor noisy nor too expensive. So unless you are especially keen and ok with a potentially less than optimal place I'm thinking Friday noon will be it. Let me know what you think.

So tomorrow noon is the current latest consensus, and as for a place I was thinking about this:

But let's see if we can find a common time that might be better for everyone: how much of an evening were you thinking of Gabor? 4-6pm start might be good for me to start the latest, but we can also start sooner maybe then you join in.

Feel free to recommend a different place too compared to the above if you'd like, one chief preference of mine is that it be not noisy as much as possible.

Noon is probably OK for me, but I need to check with my partner when she returns.

 

I will definitely not drink beers at noon, but non-alcoholic is also good for me. As for the place, I expect tomorrow to be quiet. I don’t know this place you recommended, but for me it’s OK.

Yes, I’ll be there. I don’t know how long I can stay as I am alone with my daugter at home (she is 12, not so small, still I don’t want to spend the entire afternoon away from her). I may take her along if she wanted to come. Afterwards, we may go to a Pho place which I saw on the map, close to this tea house.
