First, Gergő wanted me to tell all of you that EA Hungary is joining a hackathon as a local group this weekend, and it would be great if people from LW would join!

Here is the event link and the sign-up form.
With any questions, people can reach out to Gergő at gergo.g...@gmail.com

And I'd like to announce the next general Less Wrong/ ACX group meetup:

When: February 4 at 2-5 pm
Where: My apartment
Ulloi Ut 66/b/1
csengő 27,
floor 6, door 3

So in honor of the winter and my daughter's three month old immune system, we're going back to having meetings regularly at my apartment -- also note, there is a newborn in the house (along with a cat and a dog).

I'm not planning any serious topics of conversation, instead I think it would be fun for us to break into small groups and play with ChatGPT, and also order pizza and have fun talking to each other. So this will be more of a social meeting than an activity meeting.

Anyways, show up and have fun.

I hope to see every single one of you on the mailing list there.

Yes, especially you.

There is a typo in Gergő’s email address; it is gergo.g...@gmail.com .

This is quite interesting, some of you may think so too: https://www.lesswrong.com/posts/SwcyMEgLyd4C3Dern/the-parable-of-predict-o-matic

It argues that ChatGPT-like Oracle AIs might not be as safe as we think, or even at all. I haven't decided which side of the argument I find more convincing, I think it'd be interesting if we could discuss it next time we meet, iff others also sufficiently think so.

If the main text does not provide enough meat as its argument (as I fear for some it may not), consider partaking in the related readings at the bottom. So that we can (also) have a general discussion about if Oracle AIs are/can be safe(er).

Sounds good: that story is now the reading for the February 4 meeting
