A language profile is assigned to you following a second language evaluation administered by the Public Service Commission of Canada. Similarly, each job description in the public service has its own linguistic profile. The following information will help you interpret your linguistic profile and that of your current position or the position you are interested in.

The special measure that was scheduled to end on November 27, 2020, allowing on-line tutoring for the National Capital Region (NCR) language training standing offers will be extended until May 14, 2021. It is important to note that this measure could be cancelled with 10 working day notice.

Standing offers are open to the federal departments, agencies and corporations listed in Schedules I, I.1, II and III of the Financial Administration Act (R.S.C., 1985, c. F-11). The Language School of Campus Saint-Jean is a major provider of French language training in Alberta. During this group test preparation course for the Canadian public service, you will perfect your grammar and vocabulary skills while strengthening your comprehension and expression, both written and oral. Alliance Franaise Ottawa follows the European framework for Languages, also called CEFR, adopted by the European Commission and all around the world. Your progression is therefore supervised, following official and recognised norms.

You will have an orientation interview with one of our specialist French as a second language teachers via MS Teams, by choosing an appointment date on the calendar at the end of the test to complete the assessment of your level.

French Language Services (FLS) offers learning opportunities for bilingual and unilingual provincial government employees, including those with a background in French Immersion. The primary goal of the French language training funding program is to provide our workforce with the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skill base in conversational French to be able to provide excellence in public service in both English and French as required under the French Language Services Act.

University of Prince Edward Island is the provider for French language training. Beginner, intermediate and advanced level courses are offered online and times vary. Supervisor approval is not required for courses offered on employee personal time but required if training or tutoring takes place during work hours.

Courses sponsored by the French Language Training Program are free of charge to employees and their departments. This funding is available to classified and casual civil service employees, including employees of Health PEI. Employees may also decide to acquire Development and Training Funds (department, excluded and unionized -UPSE civil) to cover the cost of French language training not covered through the French Language Training Program or the French Language Training Government Institution Program.

Education and Early Years* (except for teachers who are currently teaching or will be teaching within the coming year and school board employees*). Teachers may communicate directly with the French Programs Coordinator at 902-438-4859 for departmental funding if they wish to take the French Language Training.

The French Language Training Government Institution Program sponsors the following agencies, boards and commissions, who are subject to the French Language Services Act. This funding covers 50% of the course cost, requiring 50% to come from their employer (government institution). Applications under the French Language Training Government Institution Program must include an email or a letter confirming funding from their employer.

French language training is open to all active employees but availability for the courses is limited. Access to training will be prioritized according to the French Language Services Act of Prince Edward Island 2020-2027 Strategic Framework's four general priorities: Communications and access to information, Health, Education and Social Services.

Two providers of foreign-language services, Comprehensive Language Center Inc. (CLCI), based in the Washington, D.C., area, and Berlitz Languages Inc. (Berlitz), based in New Jersey, were charged with participating in a conspiracy to defraud the United States by impeding, impairing, obstructing, and defeating competitive bidding for a multi-million dollar foreign-language training contract issued by the National Security Agency (NSA) in 2017, the Department of Justice announced today.

The Antitrust Division also announced deferred prosecution agreements resolving the charges against Berlitz and CLCI. Under the agreements, the companies admitted to participating in the charged conspiracy, agreed to cooperate fully with any related criminal investigation and prosecution, and agreed to maintain a compliance and ethics program designed to prevent and detect violations such as the one charged. Pursuant to the agreements, Berlitz also agreed to pay a $147,000 criminal penalty and CLCI agreed to pay a $140,000 criminal penalty, and both companies agreed that they were jointly and severally liable to pay $56,984 in victim compensation to the NSA.

Representatives of the Hungarian university emphasized in a communication published today on their website that the organization of the language course will be the next stage of successful cooperation between NKE and the Felczak Institute, following the jointly organized Visegrad Summer Academy in August. As part of the Summer Academy in Budapest, a series of lectures and meetings were held for young people from the Visegrad Group countries. Approximately 150 participants from Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary attended the event. The participants were greeted remotely by the President of Hungary. In her speech at that time, Katalin Novk expressed hope that "common historical ties will allow us to endure difficult times". The Hungarian president also noted that the significant involvement of young leaders in the Visegrad Summer Academy ensures the future development of robust relationships within the Visegrad Group.

I have implemented a lot of healthy habits since the beginning of the year, and here it is mid-April already! Time goes by so quickly, so if I'm not careful some things that are important to me get left on the back burner and never seem to get moved to my priority list.

Living in Canada where there are two official languages it is important to learn and maintain both languages (English and French) in work and in life in general. In my job, there are language profiles, and I need to work hard to maintain those levels.
