Anew story about the meeting of two worlds - modern Moscow, Russia and the fabulous Belogorie, Ancient Rus'. The Rus' people where the heroes of Russian fairy tales, epics and legends live. Ivan Naydenov, having tried on the role of Bogatyr, discovers the origins of the ancient evil that threatens Belogorie and participates in an epic battle shoulder to shoulder with folk heroes.

The film stars Viktor Khorinyak, Mila Sivatskaya, Ekaterina Vilkova, Elena Yakovleva, Konstantin Lavronenko, Sergey Burunov, Yelena Valyushkina, and Kirill Zaytsev, the voices of Garik Kharlamov as the fairy tale Kolobok.Principal photography began in June 2019, the film crew moved between the Moscow Oblast, Republic of Karelia, the Perm Krai, and again the North Caucasus, where mountain panoramas and relic forests were found near Sochi, in the Sochi National Park.

The film begins with the campaign of Ivan and the heroes, led by Finist - the Clear Falcon, who, being the strongest of the squad, makes fun of Vanya, who is deprived of heroic strength. After successfully capturing the monster, who turned out to be Kolobok , who was attacking village cattle, Ivan returns to his mansion, furnished with modern technology. He gets tired of life in the conditions of Ancient Rus', so with the help of a treasure sword, he often returns to modern Moscow, dreaming of one day moving there with Vasilisa for good. However, she does not approve of this idea.

Having got to the guard of the land of the dead, Vanya deceives him with cunning and gets there in order to pick up Koshchei, but there he meets not only him, but also his father, recently killed by Rogoleb. Having got out of the land of the dead, Koschey says that you can kill Rogoleb by cutting the stone under which he was once buried with a treasure chest. On the way back, Ivan continues to use up his supply of magic berries in order to constantly boast of his special power. On the way to Belogorye, Ivan admits to Vasilisa that the treasure has lost its magical power, then she offers to take a break. At a rest stop, magical properties return to a treasure trove stuck in the ground.

In the morning, the heroes are overtaken by Varvara and her army and inflict a mortal wound on Finist. Ivan runs out of amplifiers, and the heroes are forced to flee, leaving the sword to Varvara. Ivan quarrels with Vasilisa and, as a result of the collapse, he is left alone with Kolobok, while the rest rush to Belogorye to save Finist with the help of living water. Varvara stops obeying her mother and, having found the treasure sword, tries to fly away with it. Galina catches up with her daughter, knocks her over the forest and bewitches her, but the sword falls from a height into the forest, where Miracle Yudo finds it and brings it to Ivan.

Ivan, Kolobok and Chudo-Yudo go to battle. The others and the rescued Finist fight with them. Kolobok eats Varvara, who has taken the guise of an owl. Koschey remembers too late that if you cut a stone with a sword, Rogoleb will not die, but, on the contrary, will be freed. The former white sorcerer resurrects in the form of a monster from the roots, binds and buries Koshchei, Baba Yaga and everyone else alive in the ground. He is going to kill Ivan too.

The writers of the film The Last Warrior: Root of Evil continued to follow the canon begun in the first film: they did not only invite evil spirits (Koschei, Baba Yaga, Vodyanoy) to their fairy tale, but also added new magical assistants - and above all, a stunning, dashing Kolobok.

Principal photography of the film was shot on Krestovaya Hill near the city of Gubakha in the Urals, Krasnodar Krai and Republic of Karelia, and the main, where the whole city was, took place in the Moscow Oblast suburbs, where a special city was constructed for the film.

Filming began in June 2020. In the photographs from the set, various decorations were seen: huts, ice warriors. At the same time, it is known that the events of the film will take place both in winter and in summer.

In the first week of distribution, the film grossed a whole billion rubles at the box office, and according to preliminary forecasts of Igromania magazine, the film has a chance to bypass the fees of the previous part and collect two billion rubles for the entire rental period. By the end of January 2021, the film was able to overcome the bar of two billion rubles, which is twenty-six and a half million dollars.

Filming for a sequel known as The Last Warrior: A Messenger of Darkness was held in the suburbs of Moscow and in the town of Barvikha. Filming for the film took place in the fall of 2019 and the film is scheduled for release in 2022. The film is directed by Dmitriy Dyachenko (director of previous films) produced by Eduard Iloyan, Marina Zhigalova-Ozkan and Vitaliy Shlyappo, according to a script written by Dimitriy Yan and Pavel Danilov, starring Viktor Khorinyak.

Peace and tranquility have set in Belogorie. The evil was defeated and Ivan is now enjoying his well-deserved fame. He is surrounded by his family, friends and small wonders from the modern world that help him lead a comfortable life. Luckily, he has his Magic Sword to cut a gap between the worlds to get some supplies quite regularly. But when an ancient evil rises and the existence of the magic world is put to danger, Ivan has to team up with his old friends and his new rivals. They will set out on a long journey beyond the known world to find a way to defeat the enemies and to return peace to Belogorie.

I've seen the first movie and I loved it. I love this one even more.

Thee are many things about the movie that can only be understood if you're Russian. But not only that. The movie is great for all kind of people and great on many levels: the direction, the cast, the acting, the make up, the costumes, the 'message' and the morals. The writing may be a bit simplistic, still it's no worse than your average superhero story. Better, I dare say. The visual effects may be not the best in the world, still they are good enough. The overall style may be a bit too much of a sweet 'fairy-tale', but a fairy-tale is what this movie is, basically!

My biggest praise goes to the director who managed to tell this visual story so wonderfully. And my second biggest praise goes to the actors. Ivan Khorinyak managed to pull out the most truthful fairy-tale Ivan character: 'Ivan the fool' who is also the hero at the same time. Baba Yaga played by the famous and loved Elena Yakovleva is the best new vision of this traditional character since... 70-s, I believe? Mila Sivatskaya as Vasilisa is absolutely lovely, the very symbol of Slavic beauty. Others are also wonderful.

Again, I will repeat: this "Last warrior" is the best thing that happened to the Russian cinema in decades! The triumphant comeback of the 'fairy-tale movie'. I love it!

This is a sequel to 2017 movie 'The Last Warrior'; also called 'The Last Warrior 2'. The movie is full with fun and adventure. It nicely portrays some of the regional folklore characters. A production of Russian chapter of Walt Disney, the movie takes us along a wonderful adventure to exotic places.

We are transported into the modern world as well on occasions during the movie. This pattern is not new to this movie; it however, disrupts your fun when you are immersed in a fantasy world. Touch of comedy is prevalent throughout the movie, which increases fun and interest altogether.

A bit poorly rated from my perspective and needs to be recognized accordingly.

Well, the third part of the trilogy about the Last Hero is ripe. Fashionable emotions, gestalt closed. It seems like. But... The first film was very good. And cheerful, and funny, and for all that, not stupid at all. The characters were alive too. And the adventures are well written. That's why the story is a success.

The second film was weaker, they slightly exploited the theme of all sorts of games that had already died out on the Western cinema slope (but our current young filmmakers are epigones and enthusiastic barbarians, prostrate before shining Hollywood falling with delight). Rogoleb was a good sorcerer Belogorom. Becoming very old, the sorcerer realized that he could soon die. Then Belogor decided to become immortal, for which he created the Kladenets sword. A disciple of Belogor Mikula (now Koschei the Immortal) killed his teacher by throwing a stone on him, stole a sword-kladenets and made himself immortal. Being underground for thousands of years, Belogor turned into a root monster, and he called himself Rogoleb. Then he turns Varvara and Galina into his servants.

The evil sorceresses Varvara and Galina attack Belogorye to find the Kladenets sword and give it to the sorcerer Belogor (who created it). The heroes try to stop the villains, but all of them (except Ilya Muromets and Finist - the Clear Falcon) are bewitched. The kladenets sword falls into the hands of Ivan and his friends, and they hide from the villains. Galina stayed in Belogorie, and Varvara went in search of the sword-kladentsa. Meanwhile, the heroes (Ivan, Vasilisa, Baba Yaga and Finist) with a kladenets sword find the land of the dead (they had to go there to revive Koshchei, because only he knows how to defeat Rogoleb). Ivan enters the land of the dead to find and revive Koshchei there. In this country, Ivan meets his father Ilya Muromets, so he understands that he died in a battle with bewitched heroes and Rogoleb. Ivan really wanted to revive his father, but he gave it to Koshchei to come to life, because it is he who is needed to save Belogorye. Koschei does not remember anything, and begins to remember only when he is beaten on the head. Having remembered something, Koschei says that in order to defeat Rogoleb, it is necessary to allegedly cut the stone that crushed him. When the heroes decide to take a break, they are attacked by enchanted heroes led by Varvara. The heroes run away, forgetting the kladenets sword there. Suddenly Varvara ceases to obey Galina, and finding the sword-kladenets tries to fly away with him, but Galina catches up with her and asks why she did it. Varvara still refused to help, then Galina bewitched her. Then the heroes manage to get the kladenets sword again and with it they came to Belogorie. There, during the battle with Galina, Koshchei is struck with magic, then he remembered that the stone cannot be cut, because this can free Rogoleb from the ground, but it's too late, because Ivan has already done it. The freed Rogoleb (turned into a root giant monster) begins to bury everyone alive underground. Koschei tries to stop him by giving him a stone with immortality, but Rogoleb refused this, and buried Koshchei alive. Here Ivan has a heroic strength and he, together with Finist, defeats Belogor, sending him to the modern world, where there is no land, without which he dies.
