Hi there,
I'm working on an app to help people revising for Cicerone and BJCP exams. As part of that I need to be able to ask users questions on styles and accept examples of beers in answers. I want to be able to use answers that are local to the person revising, so for example:
Q) Give an example of a Foreign stout.
Whatever the user answers has to be checked, so I need a comprehensive database of beers. If the user doesn't know one then it's best to give something common in their area or something they've enjoyed, so for me it would either "BrewDog Toyko*" or "De Molen Hel & Verdoemenis". The idea here is to get help users remember examples of styles based on their experiences, rather than the most common ones in international lists. It would be lovely to link in a few of the social features of ratebeer, such as finding scores and local bar contents, as they'd both help achieve this.
For context, this is a personal project (I'm taking Cicerone in 2 months) but I intend to maintain it beyond that and open it to the public after a private beta with friends in hospitality.
