Students holding a degree in administration, business, commerce or management; or a degree with a major, concentration, or any equivalency programs from Athabasca University or another university will not be accepted into the Bachelor of Commerce, Accounting Major program. There are no course entrance requirements.

Please note: If you have a degree in administration, business, commerce or management, or a degree with a related major or concentration from AU or another university, you cannot apply to the Bachelor of Commerce, Accounting Major program.

The Bachelor of Commerce, Accounting Major is a 4-year online degree program. If you already have a post-secondary diploma, you can take the shorter post-diploma route. There are no set start dates - you can enrol at any time and register for courses right away.

There are 2 possible routes into the post-diploma option, with an additional option available for students who have completed a business diploma in Ontario. Faculty of Business diploma to degree routes.

Finish this program in as little as 2 years (post-diploma route) or 4 years (degree route) of full-time study. Or work at your own pace and take as long as you need. There is no time limit for completion. The program may be completed faster if transfer credit is applied toward your degree.

If you are currently working in the field and provide evidence of work being completed, this restriction may be waived. Transfer credit being used to satisfy options other than those in the business and administrative studies area will not be restricted.

In our Bachelor of Commerce, Accounting Major, you'll engage in a dynamic curriculum designed to give you a strong foundation in the field. Courses range from financial and management accounting to more specialized areas like taxation, auditing, and accounting information systems, equipping you with the versatile skill set needed for success in various accounting roles.

An online accounting degree from Athabasca University opens up a wide array of career possibilities, from traditional roles like financial analyst, auditor, and tax advisor to emerging fields such as forensic accounting and sustainability reporting. The skill set you'll acquire is not only applicable in public accounting firms and corporations but also valuable in government agencies, non-profits, and even your own entrepreneur.

Areas of study include marketing, law, economics, operations management, ethics, human resources management, organizational behaviour, financial accounting, management accounting, financial management, taxation, audit, strategic management, statistics and quantitative analysis, and data analytics.

Current students, please make sure to review your MyHumber Academic Progress report to confirm which courses you should register into for your Winter semester. Courses with in-person requirements will likely also have online components. Humber may need to change plans for in-person learning, subject to government and public health directives and/or additional health and safety considerations.

A field experience offers students an opportunity to engage in intensive experiences related to their field of study or career goals to build their skills, knowledge and abilities. Field experiences may be paid or unpaid.

Programs requiring a professional practicum offer practice-based experience or work hours for a professional license or certification. Students work under the direct supervision of an experienced professional. Placements are unpaid.

Students in co-op programs gain experience through paid work terms in their field of study that become progressively more complex as their skill level increases. The co-op portion of this program is optional.

Longo Faculty of Business offers a variety of Bachelor of Commerce degree programs on a common platform within a variety of specializations. Students have the flexibility to change their specialization within the first two years of study. This gives students the time to decide on their career path while they are gaining insight into the fundamentals of business.

The Accounting Centre is a resource available to all students enrolled in accounting courses. Students provide assistance with textbook concepts, homework questions and an overall understanding of course material from 1st to 6th semester.

Humber awards degree scholarships automatically to students entering any Humber degree program who have completed a two or three-year diploma from a publicly-funded college. Students who have achieved a program GPA of 80% or better will be awarded a one-time scholarship of $2,500 in recognition of their academic achievement at the diploma level. Diplomas do not have to be related to the degree program of choice and are not tied to the eligibility for advanced standing or transfer credit. No application is required. With this comprehensive degree, you can pursue a career in public accounting firms, government, not-for-profit organizations and major corporations as a budget analyst, taxation specialist, auditor, treasurer or as an accountant in small businesses and financial institutions.

The program helps to prepare students to pursue an Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) designation. Specific courses of this program may be recognized for prerequisite course requirements for admission into the Strategic Professional Program.

The program helps to prepare students to pursue an Ontario Chartered Professional Accountant designation. Specific courses of this program may be recognized for prerequisite course requirements for admission into the CPA Professional Education Program.

Note: The requirements for the additional credential(s) are determined by the granting body, which is independent from the College. Students are encouraged to obtain the specific requirements directly from the granting body before enrolling.

Online - Courses are scheduled only online and may be delivered asynchronously, where students study independently or synchronously, where students attend the online class on a specified time and day.

Humber College has been granted a consent by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities to offer this applied degree for a seven-year term starting May 24, 2018. Humber College shall ensure that all students admitted to this above-named program during the period of consent will have the opportunity to complete the program within a reasonable time frame.

Applications to Humber are made through ontariocolleges.ca. Be sure to submit your application by the equal consideration deadline of February 1. You may apply after February 1, however, post-February 1 applications will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis depending on the availability of the space in the program.

An applicant is considered a mature applicant if they have not completed secondary school or other postsecondary school, and will be 19 or older as of the first day of classes. Humber will invite you for testing to demonstrate that you meet all listed course requirements.

An applicant is considered a mature applicant if they have not completed secondary school or attended postsecondary studies, and will be 21 or older as of the first day of classes. Mature applicants for degree programs will be required to meet course requirements at the U/M level or equivalent.

An applicant is considered a college transfer applicant if they have completed some or all of a college-level credential. Humber may use a combination of secondary school and/or college courses and grades to determine program eligibility.
