Attention: SQL Server 2017 - Administration forum members:
I posted the information, below, to other forums, but have not had any success in receiving assistance. I have tried registering at " ," but have repeatedly been denied registration there, because I have somehow been flagged as a spammer, which I am not. Yesterday, I posted to the Microsoft Developer Network Forefront Identity Manager 2010 forum, but it was suggested that I post somewhere else. I am hoping that someone in this forum can provide some assistance. Please read the information below:

I posted the message below to the Microsoft Developer Network forum recently, and was told to post to an appropriate forum. I have tried to register as a user at the hMailServer forum website, but have repeatedly been refused registration because of an errant claim that I am a spammer, which I am not. Is there anything that this forum can do to solve my problem?

I have recently created an hMailServer database in Microsoft Visual Studio 2017. However, I am unable to successfully configure hMailServer 5.6.6 - B2383. Using the hMailServer Database Setup wizard, I click on the "'Next'" button on the "'Welcome'" dialog box. Then, I leave the "'Create a new hMailServer database'" radio button selected, and click the "'Next'" button on the "'Select option'" dialog box. Then, I leave the "'Microsoft SQL Server'" radio button selected, and click on the "'Next'" button on the "'Select database server type'" dialog box. Then, I enter "'192.168.0.2'" in the "'Database server address'" field, "'hMailServer'" in the "'Database name'" field, leave the "'Use server authentication'" radio button selected, enter a user name in the "'Username'" field, and a password in the "'Password'" field, and click on the "'Next'" button on the "'Enter server connection information'" dialog box. Then, I select the "'Apache2.4 (Apache2.4)'" service dependency, and click on the "'Next'" button on the "'Set hMailServer service dependency'" dialog box. Then, I click the "'Next'" button on the "'Finish'" dialog box. Then, I receive the following error message:

Can anyone help me figure out what I am doing wrong? When I click on the "'View'" drop down menu in Microsoft Visual Studio 2017, then click on the "'Server Explorer'" menu item, then click next to the database icon, then right-click next to the database icon ( with the following database name associated with it: "'russell1-pc\sqlexpress.hMailServer.dbo'" ), then click on the "'Browse in SQL Server Object Explorer'" menu item, an hMailServer database icon is clearly visible, which can be expanded to show a list of other items. Why am I receiving the above-given error message? Thank you ( see Colossians 3:15, for example ) for your help. Keep in touch.

Also, as of today, after having launched the Microsoft Management Console ( MMC ) in Microsoft Windows 10 ( Home ) edition, and snapping in SQL Server Configuration Manager ( Local ), expanding it, expanding the 'SQL Server Network Configuration' option, and clicking on the 'Protocols for SQLEXPRESS' option, the center pane of MMC shows that TCP/IP is enabled. I have found through online research that there are two possible reasons for the hMailServer database setup error message given above: (1) the data source connection string includes 'localhost' and (2) TCP/IP is disabled for the SQL Server service. For reason '(1),' the data source connection string given in Microsoft Visual Studio 2017 is as follows: 'Data Source=RUSSELL1-PC\SQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=hMailServer;Integrated Security=True.' In this connection string, 'RUSSELL1-PC' is used, rather than 'localhost' ( although 'RUSSELL1-PC' is the local host ), so this connection string should be correct ( hopefully ). With regard to reason '(2),' it has already been demonstrated that TCP/IP is enabled for the SQL Server service. Why am I still receiving the above-given error message? Do you have any suggestions? Thank you ( see Colossians 3:15, for example ) for your help. Keep in touch.

Attention: Mr. Whittle:
In response to your first question, I am assuming that since the same computer is used for both my web server and SQL Server 2017, that the IP Address of my computer is the correct one, which is supplied in my initial post, above. With regard to your second question, I found some information online regarding creating an inbound rule in my firewall for connecting to a remote SQL server ( it involved creating a new inbound rule and a custom rule ). I used port 1434 for one of those rules, as suggested. I have not yet used either of those rules, since I have not been able to figure out how to start SQL Server 2017 ( not the server service, though ). I still receive the error message, given in my initial post, when using the hMailServer Database Setupu wizard. Saturday morning, I downloaded SQL Server Management Studio ( SSMS - version 17.6, if I remember correctly ), but have not been able to successfully install it - I receive error messages during that process. Thank you ( see Colossians 3:15, for example ) for any assistance you can provide. Keep in touch.

Attention: Mr. Whittle:
Colossians 3:15 ( RSV ) reads as follows: "15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful." As a Christian ( see Acts, chapter 11 ( especially verse 26, for example ), for example ), I am expressing my thanks for your assistance. Since my previous posting, I have done some additional online research, and learned that SQL Express is not supported in SQL Server 2017 Database Engine Tuning Advisor. I had previously downloaded SQL Express and then, this morning, I clicked on the "SQL Server 2017 Database Engine Tuning Advisor" menu item under the Start menu ( The Windows icon on the taskbar ), launched SQL Server, "RUSSELL1-PC\SQLEXPRESS" appeared in the "Server name:" field of the "Connect to Server" dialog box, I then clicked the "Connect" button on the "Connect to Server" dialog box, and received an error message ( as indicated in the screen capture file included below ). After that, I downloaded and installed SQL Server 2017 Developer Edition. I suppose I need to do some further online research in order to figure out how to successfully connect to SQL Server. I appreciate any assistance you can provide. Keep in touch.

I was used a Intel Visual Fortran 11.1 until December 31st.
but I can't start it at January 2nd.
When I start Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Shell, there comes an error message saying " Invalid license data. Reinstall is required"

I did a Google search on the error message and found lots of reports of this issue with other Microsoft installs. -do-i-fix-an-invalid-license-data-reinstall-is-required-error-in-visual-c seems to have a lot of useful information, including a suggestion that an incorrectly set system clock or expiring time-of-year battery can trigger this. I'm less enthusiastic about the recommendations to edit registry entries.

I have this problem as well. Was this ever resolved other than the drastic move of uninstalling MS Visual Studio 10? I say this because that particular version of MS Visual Studio Express and associated service packs, sdk, and BUG patches are not a trivial thing to uninstall/re-install because of the associated installation bug.

That's not a problem, I just wanted to know which version you had. I don't have any better suggestion for you than to uninstall and reinstall - you should just need to add VS2010 SP1 and then the .msi we provide that applies fixes to SP1. Or, if you have access to VS2012 or VS2013, you could use those. (You might want to see if you qualify for VS2013 Community Edition, which is free - there are some license limitations on commercial use but you might qualify.)

Tim is correct. Please uninstall Fortran and VS2010 Shell completely, then reinstall. It shouldn't take more than a half hour. I'm hoping that the reinstall fixes this license problem. The VS2010 install is something we get as a "black box" from Microsoft and we have little insight into what it does.

Hmm. Some further reading suggests that an install of Microsoft SQL Server can trigger this problem. Supposedly a reinstall of SQL Server Data Tools can fix it. I see a LOT of MS tool users have encountered this problem, but proposed solutions are all over the map and many point to Microsoft web pages that no longer exist.

Originally I tried installing Intel Parallel Studio XE Composer Edition for Fortran Windows* (incl. Microsoft Visual Studio Shell and Libraries*) 2013 SP1 Update 4 with my existing MS Visual Studio Express 2010 SP1/SDK7.1/SQLServer/etc. After installation, I noticed that MS Shell (Int) was not installed as I expected.

and reinstalling Intel Parallel Studio XE Composer Edition for Fortran Windows* (incl. Microsoft Visual Studio Shell and Libraries*) SP1 Update 4, I am finally able to compile. On installation of the Intel compiler, the MS VS Shell was installed as part of the package.

The License of Intel Parallel Studio XE Cluster Edition for windows has expired. I am not able to send the licence to my e mail or manage the licence from the Intel registration centre. Could you please help me regarding this.

If you register for the plugin forum on visualmicro.com you will be able to get some help. I am sorry that we do not monitor other forums because it takes too much time for a free tool. In fact I just stumbled upon your post by accident You will find the register link at the top of the site.

There is a property called "Release Configuration" in "Tools>Options>Visual Micro>Compiler" which does what you want it to do. If, for example, you enter "Release" in this property then the Arduino compile will only happen when the Visual Studio solution configuration is set to "Release". This means that you can set the visual studio solution configuration to, for example, "Debug" and the Arduino compiler functionality will be disabled giving a normal Win32 compile.
