I just bought a new to me bird with two beautiful 5 gallon jerry cans mounted nicely in the front of the trailer.  They look GREAT and have been used to fuel the bird.  Thankfully the fueling system has clear tubing.  Yesterday I was fueling and even thought there is a filter inline, I saw chunkies coming up the filler line.

After a bit of looking the painted on coating to protect the inside of the cans is failing and coming off in bits and chunks.  NOT SO GOOD FOR A CARB.

So even thought this system looks great, it looks like a disaster waiting to happen for a motorglider.

I am going back to plastic.

I figure we already have enough reasons for a motorglider engine to stop, so I don't need another one.
