Hi,
I am curious to know if it is possible to cross the Rhine with a glider trailer using the roll-on, roll-off ferries that are frequently found along the river.
From my vantage point on a cruise vessel, the approach and departure angles look a little steep and maybe the tail of the trailer might scrape and prevent using them? Bridges are much further apart than ferry points.
I am using
https://puretrack.io/ to see what gliding activity there is while we cruise the Rhine, and from this and discussions with German pilots, I can see the smart retrieve option is to land at one of the many gliding airfields and get an aerotow launch or retrieve.
After a week of blue sky with the only cloud being airline con trails, I was delighted to see thermal activity as we got to Rudesheim yesterday.
Thanks for satisfying my curiosity.
