Hey guys, I am moving to an airpark!!!  the hangar is small and I will have to put my bird DG400 on a dolly and put it in at a diagonal.

It looks like the bojack 4107 is the ticket, but I am unclear whether to get the right or left model.

So far I envision being on the left side of the glider, where I would normally get in, and I would expect to have the handle sticking out towards the front of the glider.  From what I have seen, I would think this is the left hand model, but on wings and wheels, it says the right hand model is usually used for gliders.

Anyone using one, and which model did you have??  and did you have the handle facing the nose or the tail of the glider?

Thanks
Kevin

I purchased the Zendex Tool G4107 Go-Jack, Angled Ratchet Lever Right Hand,  I use it from the left side.  Handle faces aft, that’s to clear the doors 100%, not because it’s more accessible.  See if you can borrow one to “test drive.”   I love Wings and Wheels.   I also found it at:

Thanks Kevin,  how does that one clear the doors better, with teh handle towards the back?  Pics would be appreciated if possible.  Would love to try one, but dont know anyone locally with one.  running around like a chicken with its head cut off prepping our house for sale.

Our club has one to maneuver K-21's and a Junior.  I believe we have the left-hand version.  The handle is on the left side of the glider with the top of the handle towards the front.  A DG 400 would be no problem to move with this unit.

Hi Kevin,

I have photos of my glider, but none with the go-jack!
Here’s a photo from the left side, w/ a Cobra dolly I was borrowing. The gear doors on my glider angle up towards the back, which gives the room needed with right handed go-jack.

I can get you some photos w/go-jack but may be 2-3 weeks.

Thank you,
Kevin

I have tried the Gojack for a Discus 2B and a couple of Grob Astir CS and it is not ideal for several reasons: tiny wheels, interference of pump handle with gear doors, and works by squeezing the tire to force the wheel upward.

I use this dolly on an ASH-26E.   It’s mechanism for lifting is simple and the handle is in front not on the side.  Expensive, but I found it worth it.

OBTP, he who is banned for life, welded up a bunch of these for the hangar at New Hibiscus.  They  work great.  You roll the main wheel onto the dolly, close the gate to keep the dolly locked in place, then move the glider in any direction if you have your tail dolly attached.PXL_20220228_212105846.jpg

How heavy a glider can be used with this dolly (850lbs in my case)? Can one person put it on the dolly, or is someone needed to level the wings or help push?

I recently used a GoJack to lift an ASG-32. It lifted it, but it was difficult. Would have been easier with a handle about two feet longer. I don't know what the rated capacity might be, but I'm sure we were pushing it. And, yes, the wheels are very small, so you need a smooth concrete surface with no debris. Otherwise, a heavy glider is difficult to maneuver.

According to the Wings & Wheels listing, the GoJack max capacity is 1,025 lbs.
