Anyone know the dimensions of the trim ballast box in front of the rudder pedals on the Discus CS? It's not mentioned in the flight or maintenance manual. I need to order some lead ingots to fit.

7-7/8" across the top, 6" along the bottom, 3-3/4 on the sides. 1/2" thick. I can send a photo if you'd like.

That would be great! Amazon has some 1kg ingots that might fit in that cavity.

Here's a photo of one of the weights that came with my Discuss CS.

I needed weights for my CS just like you. I made a cardboard template from a friend’s  original weight and also marked the location of the hole.

I purchased a 25 lb bag of lead shot (much cheaper than ingots) from Amazon, and a cast iron container to melt it in.  Made the mold by using a scroll saw to cut out the shape  in 1/2 inch plywood. Then lined the cavity with Al foil to keep the wood from charring too much. Weighed enough leadshot for one weight, melted in the cast iron container on the gas grill. And carefully poured into the mold. Repeated 3 times, each time was better than the previous one. Dipped the plates in liquid plastic from Home Depot to protect hands while handling in the glider. I did not bother to finish the slightly bumpy top surfaces with a file or rough sandpaper  since I did not want to deal with lead filings. Not as pretty as the original, but functionally equivalent.

Feel free to email me directly with questions.
