Greetings, I finally got around to removing the very old and ratty carpet from the floor of my Cobra trailer. What's left is two 20' long streaks of old glue residue and foam from the old carpet. Any suggestions for cleaning this mess up without damaging the floor of the trailer.

Try 3M adhesive remover (08984), available at auto paint stores.   Use it with very good ventilation, fans and personal protection as it has a lot of xylene in it and you do not want to breathe it in a closed space..
Put it on the gunked up trailer floor (which should be metal and impervious to the stuff) , let it soften all the old glue up and then wipe it off.     Works very well, but one needs to use caution to avoid inhalation of vapors --

I have had excellent results with "Oil-Flow 141' from Titan Laboratories www.titanlabs.net

I would ask Spindelberger or W&W what carpet adhesive they used when the trailer was built. They may be able to recommend an appropriate remover.

You want effectiveness and minimum toxicity while not damaging the paint.
