I just noticed Judy's name in the Final Glide section of Soaring.     She passed away way too young at the age of 72.

To many in the US,   Judy was The SSA Badge Lady over two stints in 90s and 2000s.    I had the privilege to work with her when I was the head of the SSA Badge and Record Committee,  where she was always thorough,  incredibly knowledgeable, and an expert on the vagaries of the FAI Sporting Code.     I'm sure there are hundreds if not thousands of SSA members whose badges and records were "homolgated" by Judy.

Only met Judy, in person, on one occasion at Sylvania Soaring Adventures.  She was holding court in a glider ground school lesson on a Saturday morning before each attendee would have an afternoon lesson.  It was a Learning for Life series through the Community Colleges was Chicago.  Please have a look at her Achievements on https://members.ssa.org.

The attached was snipped from Soaring, September 2025.

She was the DPE for my glider add-on at Estrella way back when. Class act. Odd that she and BettyAnne Horvath passed within a few months of each other. They are likely to open "Saint Peter's Soaring Academy" soon, if they haven't already done so.
