Hi,

I saw Angel demonstrating the Shake at

using what he said was SeizGram2K, giving a real-time oscilloscope type view of the Shake's output.

I did a search on the net and found SeizGram2K and installed the .jar, the defaults, and examples. It runs fine on my Win10 system.

After that I got lost trying to follow the rest of the instructions.

How do I get SeizGram2K to display the Shake's output in real time? The Shake is on my local network, and is working fine with the installed software at port 5000.

I show up on the Stationview page in Burnsville, MN, USA. The Shake is currently sitting on my desk while I'm testing it, so it is showing quite a bit of signal. It was delivered yesterday and I had it up and running on a Pi 3 in a couple of hours.

What a cool project!

Thanks!

Denny

Cool. Thanks Denny. There are some seisgram2k instruction here:

For example,

java -cp SeisGram2K60.jar net.alomax.seisgram2k.SeisGram2K -seedlink "raspberryshake.local:18000#AM_R5DCF:SHZ#300"
Ping us again if you have any problems.

Hi Brandon,

Thanks for your quick reply.

I'm getting close, but it isn't quite there yet.

I made a SkakeLocal.cmd in the folder with the .jar file. It looks like my version of the jar is 70. I substituted my Shake ID for the one in the example. This is on Win10.

ShakeLocal.cmd
java -cp SeisGram2K70.jar net.alomax.seisgram2k.SeisGram2K  -seedlink "192.168.1.177:18000#AM_AM.RC069:SHZ#300"

When I execute this, SeisGram starts and throws this error at the bottom, and does not display anything:

INFO: Cannot find or open an existing pick file: C:\SeisGram2K\SeisGram2K_1481071039.pick

There also seems to be a way to define a data path from the File menu with one of the Open options. Can you explain how to do that also?

Thanks!

Hi Denny:

Not sure about the File menu option.

Try this:

java -cp SeisGram2K70.jar net.alomax.seisgram2k.SeisGram2K  -seedlink "192.168.1.177:18000#AM_RC069:SHZ#300"

I have been following along trying to get SeisGram2K running on Win 10 also.  But I have no Java experience.  I do have SeisGram2K70 running but didn't know how to 'connect' to my local shake.

How do I make a "ShakeLocal.cmd" in in the folder with the .jar file.
Then how do I execute it?

For me, the java -cp command line will be:  java -cp SeisGram2K70.jar net.alomax.seisgram2k.SeisGram2K  -seedlink "10.0.0.18:18000#AM_RFD2F:SHZ#300"

Hi John,

Just make a .cmd file in the directory that contains the .jar file with any text editor. It looks to me like you have the java command formatted as required. I called mine ShakeLocal.cmd

Then, close up any copy of SeisGram2K that may be running.

With File Explorer, navigate to the directory that contains your .jar and .cmd files.

Double click on the .cmd file and it should start SeisGram2K and connect to your local Shake.

If it doesn't, check your .cmd file for typos and accuracy. You already have the version of SeisGram2K right.

Good luck!

Denny

Thanks Denny; that was easy!   I haven't done that since those DOS days of yesteryear.

SeisGram2K is now running, and updating almost in real time along with Swarm.

I have followed these instructions.... But they are not working as expected.
I get the following error in my dos box;

"Error: Could not find or load main class net.alomax.seisgram2k.SeisGram2K"

I am running the seis.cmd in the same directory as the SCHOOL.jar file.

Any ideas?

Thanks

(And I have downloaded the latest SeisGram2K as per the post from a few days back).

Ok, got it working.
Changing the file name and the station ID to mine gets it working as expected.

Note, the instructions in the doc are a little sparse (and wrong for the updated version); http://manual.raspberryshake.org/traces.html
If they could be updated to include the new file name and some help given on how to enter our station ID into the .cmd file, that would have saved some time.

All in all, looks to be an interesting program with a pretty steep learning curve.
Looking forward to the challenge and new knowledge.

Loving my little Pi Shake!

Cheers.

Hello

Trying connecting my Rpi Shake with next .cmd file
java -cp SeisGram2K70.jar net.alomax.seisgram2k.SeisGram2K  -seedlink "raspberryshake.local:18000#AM_R5C96:SHZ#300"

Executing previous .cmd I have next problem (see attached file). Rpi Shake is running.

Thanks by your patience with Noobs, I tried of several ways (even manually in "open seedlink" option from own program but i couldn´t connect.

Hola Juan Antonio,

I have my Seisgram mostly working.

The command you sent does not look right, I will check when I get to work, it seems to be missing the 00 location code.

Hola Juan Antonio,

the command does need the location code and should look like this

java -cp SeisGram2K70_SCHOOL.jar net.alomax.seisgram2k.SeisGram2K  -seedlink "10.18.205.87:18000#AM_RB411:00SHZ#300"

note the 00 just before the SHZ,  we have fixed the manual

Thanks Angel.

I can´t believe. It was my fault. Yesterday my mind wasn´t clear. I thought - raspberryshake.local:18000-  was a static name to addres my router assuming that changing Station code was enough to identify my shake and a didn`t substitute by my IP.  By the way, I tested with 00 and without 00 after write rightly my command and works in both ways.

Related with station code i have notice that my public codestation at stationview is different from internal code assigned to files. It this right?

Thanks again for your time and Rpi Shake. Rpi Shake has a lot of qualities, but for me one othe main is forcing me to learn a lot of new things and rescue my geologist past. I hope extract much more from this magical device

Best Regards

Hi Juan Antonio,

If you switched from wifi to ethernet or the other way you will have two codes.  This will be fixed in the next update.  After the net update the name of the station will always be the realated to the mac address of eth0

Saludos,

Angel

SeisGram2K runs OK on my Linux computer, but I would not say the trace is not exactly "real-time". The trace is continuous, but it is posted on the display in "bursts" once every 12 seconds. Is this what I should expect, or can I change a setting and get a (near) real-time display?

HI,

There are two flavors or SeisGram2K  one is for school use and the other is for seismologist.  They are very similar and in respect to realtime signal they are the same.  In the school version there is a dialog box which walks you through connection to a seedlink server.  In the other verison you might hve to do that from the command line.

We have some examples in the manual.

Angel
