Greetings,

Got my new shake yesterday.  A lot to learn about how to use it.
It looks like swarm is a great tool, but I can't figure out how to configure it to access my shake.
Any help is appreciated.

 - Cheers!

After installing Swarm on a machine on your subnet, enter a "new data source", SeedLink server tab, use default port 18000, enter IP of your Shake, give the connection a name, close the map, open helicorder view - lower left icon.
That works for me, it would be nice if Swarm became the default heliplot viewer onboard the Shake. The existing one leaves a lot to be desired IMHO.

Hi Adrian:

Good evening.

I agree, the helicorder plot on Raspberry Shake is super simple. But that was by design. We chose to go minimalist because the RPi has very limited resources. And since the software is backwards compatible with the RPi Model B, we were further limited.

We also chose not to include Swarm on the unit for the same reason. Swarm works nicely on Mac, Windows and Linux and the installation is plug and go. So it is easy to use it on your local laptop or Desktop machine in order to queue up and scope out your Raspberry Shake's data. After the next release, you will be able to download a pre-configured Swarm from the Raspberry Shake web config >> Actions section. The button is currently there but it does nothing.

I recommend not using the SeedLink Server Data Source. The SeedLink Server implementation in Swarm is very buggy. Use the Winston Wave Server Data Source to connect to the OSOP Wave Server instead. The OWS is highly optimized and has the added benefit that it serves what is inside of the SeedLink Server buffer PLUS any data on disk (Raspberry Shake saves the last 7 days of data to disk for this reason).

You can learn more about OWS here: http://www.osop.com.pa/software/osop-wave-server/

My bad, here is the preferred method from another thread;

Open swarm, in the upper left there are what looks like three little barrels, that is called the data chooser, click on it

be sure that the active tab is the Winston Wave Serve tab.

A dialog box opens,  the upper text box is just a string put anything there, maybe MyShake

in the next text box put the IP of your shake or raspberryshake.local if that is working for you.

Then change the port to 16032

Hi Tim:

This is a bug that will be repaired in the next software update. In the meantime, please download swarm from the USGS website.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
