I feel really stupid. I recently updated my Captivate 8 to 8.0.1.242 and now I can't figure out how to change the color of my smart shapes. I don't see the fill or stroke settings. Is there somewhere new I should be looking? Shouldn't they be under the "State" area? All is see is the opacity setting.
The other thing I would do is NOT set my publish folder to be a ONE Drive folder. Point to a normal folder somewhere on your C drive, preferably close to root level. The publishing issue could be that you are publishing to a drive that is closely related to a cloud service.
This issue is usually caused by some corruption in the CPTX file. It could be one or more slides corrupted, or just objects on a slide. The solution involves using a process of elimination to narrow down which slide/s or objects are causing the issue. Just take a copy of your CPTX to experiment with and start hiding groups of slides before trying to republish. Hiding a slide means it does not end up in the published output. In just a few minutes you should be able to locate where the corruption is and then either remove and rebuild the slide, or remove and replace the corrupted object.
I read on a thread somewhere else the possibility that the Onedrive is in the file name; as my HD is synced, that it could be a problem. Any truth to that? Before I tap into internal IT for help, I'd like to be sure that it would be an actual fix.
I use the same on a 2015 Macbook and it's super slow. My computer runs hot while I have captivate open and Captivate is always listed as using signifiant amount of energy. I keep hoping for an update that helps. I almost wish I didn't update to the 2017 release right away.
I have used Articulate as well and it is a joy to use. the biggest difference is that it has never crashed on me. On the other hand, Captivate crashes regularly in every version ( I have used captivate since version 4). The only reason we are not using Articulate is that my office is Mac based and Articulate only runs on windows. If they ever develop a mac version, Captivate will be DEAD!
If you happen to have been a previous Storyline user, you may be thinking that Captivate's Branching View is the same as Storyline's Story View. While they may look similar, Captivate's Branching View is nowhere near as good and should only be turned on for brief periods while you check how your interactive branching is looking. Never leave it turned on or it will bog Captivate down.
As someone who has been struggling with Captivate's slow and unresponsive application day in and day out, dealing with bug after bug, and crash after crash, this software-find felt so relieving! For those wondering, Articulate does well to replicate almost every feature offered by Captivate, so you should easily be able to make the switch. It only runs on Windows unfortunately, and it has no built-in TTS (though it is very easy to generate TTS elsewhere, and Articulate has a beautiful process for handling the captions of any audio file). Articulate also offers many more features not supported by Captivate that make it more of a step up! Such as mobile support.
If you examine the image above, there is an additional CSS file (CPLibraryAll.css) that we have not yet modified. This the file that tells the project where to find all its CSS information. We will eventually add the location of our new font.css file to definitions within this file. But not just yet. Through trial and error, I have found that there is no value in modifying CPLibraryAll.css at this stage, as it seems as though this file is freshly generated for each published project, and any changes are overwritten. Therefore, I edit CPLibraryAll.css AFTER publishing the project.
I cannot get adobe captivate 9 to print handouts or storyboards. I have tried having word open and having it closed. I've logged in as the Administrator. I've copied all the slides to blank project and tried this way but no success. I'm all out of ideas. I have Word 2013. Can anyone assist please?
I'd really like to save each quiz answer (each answer is one of A, B, C, D or E) as a variable, so that when I review the solutions with explanation videos later in the module, I can reference the variable in the form "Your answer was B" ("Your answer was $$Q2Answer$$", where Q2Answer is one of my custom variables). This is important for my students: they are young kids, so if I don't tell them what answer they chose, half the time they won't remember.
I hope you're day is going well Adobe experts. I have created a captivate file using Captivate 5 and the software crashed and lost a days work (twice today). I know I should have been saving all along but I wasn't aware that there is no autosave (or is there? haven't been able to find that option). I found files in the Adobe Captivate Cashed Projects folder with the file extension .cpd in the uncompressed files folder. Also found audio.cpad, info.cpi, and text.cptd files in the Cashed Project folder. Are these the files I was working on and is there any way of restoring these types of file or using this information to retrieve my captivate? Sorry if this is a silly question, I'm desperate to get this work back.
We don't use a tracking system such as an LRS or similar as by now we don't need to. However, for some captivate activities we have created some variables that retrieves information about the performance of students and we retrieve them an use them as a feedback in a google sheet.
I have on many occasions set these to do what I would like, do some other work on the project, (set the size that images will shrink down to once dropped in the appropriate area) and these options will become inactive. I am not sure why this kept happening, so I called adobe support and had a screen share session. He couldn't find out why this was happening either, and every time it did I would just delete the interaction and start again.
The panning feature in Adobe Captivate allows you to record things that are outside of the red recording area. When the panning feature is activated before you start recording, all you have to do is click your mouse outside of the recording area. Captivate then moves the recording area to include the area on the screen where you clicked.
Text captions are objects. They are used to explain what is being shown on the screen. You can have several text captions on one slide. You are not limited to just one. In addition, you can edit the text in a Text caption, change where they appear, change when they appear, and even alter the look.
To change when an object appears on the slide, put your mouse over the object's bar in the Timeline. Your mouse cursor will change to a hand. You can then drag the bar beneath the time on the Header where you want the object to first appear on the slide. For example, perhaps you don't want the object Text_Caption_1 (shown above) to appear on the slide until 00:02.
