What does everyone think of this not-quite, partial sequel to "Cloverfield". (And what's the consensus on that film? Other than Costa, who hated it I presume.)

Im intrigued.  I like the concept, and love when goodman plays against type.  And contrary to opinion, i liked cloverfield. Except the ending blew. And all the characters were grating. 

The review is decent writing, but gives too much away. And for a first-time director, he sure has a lot of big names. 

I read that the actors had no idea they were shooting a lateral sequel, that it had a different name, and didnt find out until it was nearly released.
