Waterworld wasn't a bad concept for a film or whatever, it was the plot itself that was lame. Worst bad guys in a movie ever, and the little girl had a compass tattoo?....i don't know how those water peeps navigated the waters not knowing which way they were going all that time, they musta used bread crumbs or something....totally dumb.

But hey Stargate lasted 10 seasons and had like 3 spin offs....so WW will probably win awards and shit.

It was a cool concept...of course I"m a sucker for those post apocalyptic movies...if they can improve on the worlds creatures/dangers rather than Kevin Costner the might have something...

The Bodyguard in outer space, which would somehow be less weird then the actual movie

For me, Waterworld was the first time my teenager cynicism about
movies outran the dominant culture and cycled back to the beginning.
What I mean is, I didn't see the Biggest Flop ever for a few years.
Then, when I did see it on video, it was just another dumb action
movie that was fun to watch, no different from all those other dumb
action movies.

If Costner had figured out a way to make that dumb action movie
without loosing records amounts of money, it might not have had a name
that has lasted this long.

I will now try to google for a good example.

Waterworld was Hopper's best work since "Giant."
