Did you NOT watch the opening credits?  obviously they turn on their bedroom-sized modem, tie up the entire southern california seaboard's telephone lines, slip in a floppy, create a new version of tron and/or astroids, ride bikes, take meetings with police detcetives who like to hang out with high school kids, and then A Martinez (again, ahead of the curve on one-letter first names), would pull out his gun and THEN the solved a crime.
