Fortnite might be a free-to-play title, but that doesn't stop players from spending lots of money on in-game cosmetics. Skins and accessories are popular ways for players to show off their personal flair and style during a match. A select few of Fortnite's hundreds of skins are either rare or come at a steep price. Many of these skins were cross-promotional exclusives, were listed on the Epic Games store for only a short while, or were unpopular during their release and were not listed again.

Below are the top ten rarest or most sought-after skins in the Fortnite universe. Due to the rapidly changing nature of the game, this list is subject to change, as Epic Games could release any one of these high-demand skins in the accessory shop, and their rarity or value could drop. Currently, however, these are the most coveted and rarest Fortnite skins in the game.

2021 is here, bringing a whole new slew of Fortnite skins along with it. While our list of rarest skins still stands, we've decided to supplement it with some of 2021's newest rare offerings and some honourable mentions. Who knows, these skins might reappear in the Item Shop at some point, so be on the lookout.

Before we start our list, let's break down some new and anticipated skins for 2021.

HONOURABLE MENTIONS

These might not be the rarest skins in Fortnite, but they're still highly sought after by players. Some of these skins are no longer available, and others frequent the Item Shop.

Keep a close eye on these Honourable Mentions. While they may not be as rare as some of the game's other skins, they are extremely uncommon and will definitely turn some heads in the lobby.

1. DRIFT - LEVEL 6 LOOK

The first level of the skin is just the base model, which is unlocked when a user purchased the Season 5 Battle Pass. Gaining XP levelled up the skin, rewarding players with different cosmetics for the Drift skin. The most notable of these cosmetics is the addition of a decorative mask during the fourth level.

While many players received the masked Drift skin, they did not manage to max out the skin's levels. The final level of Drift featured a mysterious aura around the character, as well as a brighter overall colour scheme.

While levelling up Drift might sound easy enough, it's not that simple any more. For one, the upgrade took 200,000 XP to complete. For two, season 5 has been over for quite some time, making this task impossible.

Despite this, Drift is a fan-favourite skin, one that will always be sought after by players both old and new.
