19th-century canon femslash for the win! I'd like anything with Eugénie and Louise being happy together. Maybe something set after the novel, where Eugénie has the brilliant musical career that she dreamed of? Or if you prefer to write something set during the novel, I get the impression that they were pretty much ignored by Eugénie's parents and could spend time together with no one asking too many questions. Perhaps a scene of them snatching kisses (or more) over their music? Or how did they first realize or confess their love to each other? It’s mentioned that Eugénie is a poet, among her other talents. Did she court Louise in poetry?

I love opera and classical music, so I would be interested to read anything to do with their music. I am also intrigued by the suggestion in the chapter "The Road for Belgium" that this wasn't the first time Eugénie has tried cross-dressing.

I love their loyalty to each other, and I especially love Rodrigo's devotion. (I may just swoon a little every time they call each other “my Rodrigo” or “my Carlo” or “my Prince.”) It feels to me like Rodrigo is in love with Carlo and is sublimating it into loyalty because he doesn’t think it’s appropriate for him to have such feelings for his prince or because he doesn’t think Carlo can return them. I also love how Carlo admires Rodrigo and how Rodrigo's nobility inspires him to be a better person. I get the feeling that even before Carlo wants to be a king worthy of Spain, he wants to be a king worthy of Rodrigo.

I would love to read anything about their relationship, especially if it involves mutual loyalty and devotion, self-sacrifice, and emotional hurt/comfort. Bonus points if you bring in their passionate feelings for freedom and Flanders!
