Dear Members,

India needs more research to tackle the demands of RDs both for diagnostics as well as treatment. In this context as also for research for other disease spectrums, IAPG along with PSM India and PFCD are jointly organising a Multi stakeholder round table on - Unlocking India’s Potential in Biomedical Science & Innovation to Improve Health Care in India and for the World on 4th August. It is a timely discussion and the PM tweeted today that he is unhappy with the research outputs in the country and would like to promote research- http://m.huffingtonpost.in/2017/07/20/pm-modi-who-claimed-ganesh-had-cosmetic-surgery-is-unhappy-wit_a_23039010/

The roundtable brings together some of the stalwarts of the sector and will drive the agenda to push for more research. It is also an opportunity for us to demand investment into research for RDs. Our meeting with Dr. Harshvardhan (Minister for Science and Technology) was very positive and he has shown enthusiasm to invest in drug discovery as well as devices and diagnostics. The outcome of this roundtable is a whitepaper that will be presented to both the government as well as NITI AYOG.

We have to get together to create a clear roadmap for our demands and the pathways to achieve it

Attached is a draft agenda and a PWC report for your reading.

I look forward to comments and inputs

regards
