Check out all of the Scholarship Opportunities that are being made available to high-school-level FIRST Participants and Alumni. Don’t forget to check back often as new opportunities are being added all of the time! National Center for Women & IT (NCWIT)’s Aspirations in Computing Award: Calling all hackers, coders, and technical high school women! Applications are now open to any U.S. high school woman with computing aspirations. Winners receive scholarships, prizes, and more. All teachers, counselors, administrators, mentors, and other educators who encourage girls’ interest and participation in technology pursuits are welcome to apply for the Educator Award. Winners receive a cash prize for professional development and more. Over 20% of award winners in the last 3 years have had FIRST experience. Put your experience to work for you and apply soon. Don’t forget to reference that you are a FIRST program participant on your application (no acronyms, please!). The deadline for submittal is in early November. National 4-H Council: 4-H Youth in Action Awards recognize outstanding 4-H’ers who epitomize 4-H youth empowerment and leadership. Four (4) accomplished 4-H’ers who have gained critical life skills through their 4-H experience and have utilized those skills for personal impact and community impact will be selected in each of the following core pillars: - Agriculture
- Citizenship
- Healthy Living
- STEM
Last year’s STEM Pillar Winner was Thad Hughes, a FIRST Robotics Competition alum from Illinois. Thad is now a Mechanical Engineering student (’19) at Rose Hulman Institute of Technology. One winner from the four pillar winners will be selected as the 2017 4-H Legacy Award winner. The deadline to submit for the award is Monday, October 24th at 5:00 pm Eastern Time.
