2017 FIRST Robotics Season

Hi Raptors,

The 2017 FIRST Robotics Season begins on Saturday, January 7. This year's game is called STEAMWORKS. More information about this year's game can be found here<http://www.firstinspires.org/2017-frc-teaser>. We will be attending a FIRST Kickoff at Boyne City High School on Saturday, January 7 to learn the full details of the game. More details about Kickoff to follow.

To attend Kickoff and participate in FIRST Robotics, students need to register online with FIRST and parents need to electronically give consent for their child's participation. Details about registering with FIRST can be found in the attached document. Please take care of this requirement this week. Currently only 12 students have registered with FIRST. If this is not completed by January 6, the student will not be able to attend Kickoff. If you have trouble with the FIRST system, email me directly at fail...@tcaps.net and I can send you an email invite from FIRST.

There will be a FIRST Robotics parent meeting on Wednesday, January 4. The meeting will be from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm. At this meeting, we will share information about the upcoming season and hand out permission slips for the January 7 trip to Boyne City. Parents should plan to attend this important meeting.

Finally, there will be a $125 team fee to participate in FIRST Robotics this year. Checks should be made payable to TCAPS and can be brought to the parent meeting on January 4th. Please contact me directly if you have questions about the team fee or need scholarship assistance.

We have tried to use an app called SLACK to communicate with students and parents this year. SLACK will remain our primary mode of communication but we will also periodically send out emails via this google group.

Hi Raptors,

Quick update as Kickoff quickly approaches.

Parent meeting tomorrow (Wednesday, January 4) at 6:30 pm in the nest. It is very important that all Raptors and at least one parent attend.

We will meet at the nest on Saturday, January 7 to take a bus to travel to Boyne City HS for Kickoff. Please be there by 7 am. The team will cover the cost of the bus but you will need to bring money for lunch. Plan on bringing $10. We will return to school after lunch and start discuss strategy for this year's game. Permission slips for trip to Boyne City will be handed out at the parent meeting.

Don't forget to register with FIRST. This must be done by Friday, January 6. Details below and attached.

Hi Raptors,

Due to the weather, we are moving the parent meeting to tomorrow (Thursday, January 5) at 6:30 pm in the nest.
I have attached the TCAPS permission slip for the trip to Kickoff at Boyne City on Saturday. It would be great if you could print off this permission slip, fill it out and bring it to the meeting tomorrow.

Parents are welcome to join the Raptors Slack group which will be our primary means of communication during the season. If you want to use Slack, download the app before tomorrow's meeting and we will show you how to sign up for the Raptors at the meeting.

The students listed below have not completed the FIRST Registration process. This must be completed by Friday, January 6 to attend Kickoff. Make sure to register for FRC and Team #1711. If you are having trouble registering, read Mr. McGinty's message on Slack or call FIRST at 1-800-871-8326 and press 0.
