So we are testing out something new this year for how the team communicates. In the past the email group for the Raptors worked pretty good. But one problem is that a lot of people under the age of 20 don't really keep up on reading their email. Also a lot of people over the age of 20 don't txt. So we need to find something between the two. We hope that slack will do this for us.
- Run's on just about anything, computer browser (mac, pc, linux), has apps to download for iOS, Android, Windows, and Mac
- Push notifications of new messages, and posts for iPhone and Android users.
- Free (we like free)
- We can integrate it with up to 10 other services (google docs, calendars, email, etc...) as part of our free plan
- Chat rooms for groups to talk and post things. So far we have Administration, Build, Alumni, Media, etc..
- Direct Messaging, these are just basic Instant Messages between 2 or more members.
How to get signed up for slack
1) Lots of people have already been invited to our team slack, please check your email for the invite.
3) Once you get the invite, you click on the link. Create your profile and login.
Once your logged in, you will be automatically added to the #general #random channel/chat room. There are other channels you are free to join, like #parents.#alumni, or any of the Sub Team channels.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Thanks
Mr. Riker
