A brief update from Rapportive. (If you recently joined our Raplet
developer list: welcome, great to have you on board!)
We are in the process of rolling out full SSL support for all
Rapportive users. Most users won't notice anything other than an
update to their browser extension and the absence of security
warnings. :) For Raplet authors, it means that we would really like
you to use HTTPS too, because otherwise the security warning won't go
away.
Google Chrome is particularly notorious here: if we load any
Javascript from an unencrypted source (such as a Raplet using plain
HTTP), it displays an ugly red "skull and crossbones" icon in the
address bar on Gmail. Some users have have found this disconcerting.
So please can you make sure that your Raplet URLs, and any images or
JSONP requests you include, all start with https://.
By the way, if you're working on a Raplet or thinking of doing so,
we'd love to hear how you're getting on. Feel free to post to the
raplet-dev list <raple...@googlegroups.com>, or email us directly.
Thousands of Raplets are currently installed by Rapportive users, and
we will be announcing some cool new Raplets soon, so you are in good
company!
Best wishes from San Francisco,
Martin
