building Rapicorn and Beast on a Arch based system

Hello, I'm trying to build Rapicorn and subsequently Beast on a Arch based system, Antergos.

Thusfar I follow the steps in README. Working through the dependencies. Get stuck when I get is 'configure: error: PNG image library libpng (>= 1.2) is missing, but required'. Since this library is present, version 1.6. I also installed libpng12 but even so the error comes up.

What can I do? Should try to get along or just install Ubuntu and try it there. On AUR I can't find a prepackaged download.
