it is honestly so hysterical to me that the entire movie is just batman and superman having an almighty pissing contest while wonder woman was minding her business the WHOLE TIME and at the end they've made a gigantic mess JUST because they don't like each other and everything is absolutely fucked and she finally has to step in like "OH For Fuck's Sake. These Fuckin' Dudes. Really guys? Seriously bros? Honestly Boys?" but she ZOOPS in anyways and helps their collective toddler asses Boy oh boy that's good
I've been complaining for years that Batman doesn't spend enough time shooting people to death, torturing them with red-hot bat symbols, and making bush-league intellectual mistakes. Thank goodness Zack Snyder finally made a movie for me!
A movie that intentionally or not genuinely follows through on the inherent ugliness and fascism of Batman and the complicated moral relationship between the American image (Superman) and the horrifying actions around the globe committed by the state. Snyder takes his genre deconstructionist interest in the ethics of power and the mythic, Godlike alienation of the superhuman and deforms them even further with political violence and corporate privatization; placing two American icons into an unpleasant, expressionist, cartoon nightmare world brought on us by the country's institutional corruption and disastrous foreign policy. One of the most strange and sadistic and as a result honest depictions of what American superheroism would look like. Superman destroys a drone, Batman quotes Dick Cheney. Of course people hated this. (First review.)
