Any sharp objects in checked bags should be sheathed or securely wrapped to prevent injury to baggage handlers and inspectors. These items are required to be placed in checked bags with or without blades.
A rule of thumb is that if the B-factor is less than 150 and the resolution is better than 4 Å, the sharpened map is probably OK. Especially for a very high resolution structure, with very uniform resolution, the sharpened map will be best for model building. However, in practice we must always look at both the raw map and the sharpened map, and be careful not to over interpret the fine densities we see. There are also alternative sharpening methods, like DeepEMhancer, LocScale, and so forth. In any case, we should always check the raw map and be careful with what we think are real features.
As mentioned in your comment, the /var/app/staging folder is owned by the webapp user but the npm install command is executed by root user. Therefore, the bash script workaround solution goes to the /var/app/staging/ directory and install the Sharp dependency by executing the sudo -u webapp npm install sharp command as the webapp user. All of this is done before the application and proxy server configuration process initiates as shown in "Instance deployment workflow".
