I'm trying to restore my WAX206 stock firmware as I need to sell it to friends and because there is no stable version of openwrt for it I wanted to be sure to have the stablest build possible which is probably the stock one.
I think @maonat is over-indexing on the concept of "stable" and assuming that a nightly snapshot is inherently unstable. Whether and rc of a stable release or a snapshot, just try one and see how you like it. I am betting OpenWrt is superior to the vendor stock firmware in the stability department whether rc or snapshot
Download the correct firmware image for your device. When downloading from the Netgear site, the firmware is usually contained in a .zip file - extract this first. The actual firmware file will have an extension such as .chk , .bin , .trx or .img .
