A hundred and four years ago, the Audax Club Parisien dropped its always-riding-in-a-group audax format and began the free-pace allure libre format we enjoy today on our brevets, populairs, and permanents. The ACP's first allure libre 200k brevet was held on 9/11/2021 on a Paris-Dreux-Chartres-Paris circuit, and there were 26 finishers. At first centered in France, since the 1970s these brevets have become truly global in scope. At the last PBP there were about 70 countries represented.

Happy Birthday allure libre!

It's certainly a weird and quirky niche cycling sport, but I sure enjoy it!

Audaxers are the calmest, the most peacerful of tourists. True lovers of nature. 

They are not this: 

Le nez sur le guidon, sans rien voir... sans nen sentir des beautes de la nature .  

The nose on the handlebars, seeing nothing, with no sense of the beauty of nature.
