There are a million butt balms going by a ton of cutesy names. Everyone has a favorite!

For years, I've been well served by Lantiseptic. (Hat tip to the Anciens and Anciennes in my local club.) However, there has been a nationwide recall by the manufacturer and the product is getting hard to find. Does anyone have a suggestion on where to secure the awesome 4 ounce tubes of the good stuff?

Thanks in advance,
Mimo

I don't have any inside knowldege, but iirc from the recall it affected a certain portion of prior batches - which might be why it's hard to find or why it would be scary to buy whatever is on Amazon (https://www.fda.gov/safety/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts/dermarite-industries-expands-voluntary-nationwide-recall-due-potential-burkholderia-cepacia)
But why not just ask DermaRite where to buy it? They have a phone number right on their website: https://dermarite.com/product/lantiseptic-original-skin-protectant/
Presumably they know who has current non-recalled batches in stock?

Gents,
No idea about lantiseptic. Calmaseptic is great for recovery and blue steel anti chaff lotion for the under area.

You can also look for something else with the same active ingredient.  It looks like Lanolin is the active ingredient at 50%, and then it's a mix of petroleum jelly and mineral oil.

At the other end of the age spectrum, a lot of diaper rash creams use Lanolin as the primary ingredient, albeit at a lower concentration: https://www.amazon.com/Original-Ointment-Protectant-Lanolin-Petrolatum/dp/B0197XWKYY/

Not a personal review, but it looks like you can buy 100% Lanolin on its own as well: https://www.amazon.com/DMSOSTORE-Lanolin-1-lb/dp/B0C8BTQ1B8.

Depending on whether Lanseptic makes it out of the recall, we might be in for some potion brewing on our own.

100% lanolin.   Very effective.   Stays where you put it.

Susan: I've been searching for a good Lantiseptic alternative. I used the Lansinoh lanolin nipple cream on last week's 200K and the 300K a couple of weeks before that. It works great! My only complaint: It gets super thick (and therefore difficult to squeeze out of the tube) when cold. During rides I keep it in my jersey pocket and that seems to provide enough heat to keep it softer and easier to use. Highly recommended.
