[Humboldt Randonneurs]

Humboldt Randonneurs extends an invitation to Randonneurs USA and Northern California Randonneurs to join us for the 3rd annual Memorial Day weekend offering of Unknown Kings 300K. Leaving Arcata early Saturday morning across Humboldt Bay and the pastures of the Eel River delta, stopping for coffee in the quaint Victorian town of Ferndale before taking the steep climbs out to the Lost Coast, cycling the remote roads up the Mattole River to Petrolia and Honeydew before climbing Wilder Ridge into the Kings Range across to Ettersberg and out to Redway, where we'll stop and enjoy the Volunteer Firefighters Memorial Day BBQ before heading back to Arcata through the Avenue of the Giants. Then hang out Sunday to observe the hillairity and creativity of the annual Kinetic Sculpture race for perfect holiday weekend!

I've ridden the two prior occurrences of this brevet and can recommend it as a really amazing route. I don't know if I've ridden a more scenic, challenging, and well thought out 300k anywhere else, and Arcada is a uniquely charming place to spend a weekend. I hope some of you can make it!
