RUSA has adopted a new series of awards for persistent RUSA participation. The Ultra Distance Awards are presented retroactively, and RUSA looks forward to making the first presentations in 2026. Before 2025 ends, however, you can continue to work on an Ultra Distance Award.
RUSA members with at least ten years of results are eligible for an Ultra Distance Award. What you need is at least ten years with at least 1000k each year. If you reach those minimums, the only question is what level of Ultra Distance Award you have earned: 1000k, 2000k, 3000k, 4000k, or 5000k?
You can figure out where you stand before these awards are fully functioning at RUSA.org by sorting all your years of results from highest to lowest. Your 10th highest year of at least 1000k is your initial level of ultra distance award. But you can increase that level with subsequent years of riding. You will also receive another award after your 20th, 30th, and so on, of riding at least 1000k per year.
That means if you keep piling on the Ks in the remainder of this year, you can use 2025 to improve your level for the upcoming or future presentations of the Ultra Distance Award. The award is an icon in your RUSA trophy case, no application required.
Keep riding!
