Looking for some advice on getting liability insurance that is required to participate in Brevets in Japan. I’m traveling in October and there are a few 600 K that I have on my radar however participating in these requires you to have ¥50 million worth of liability insurance for the duration of the event. Someone suggested Tinleg travel insurance however I do not believe that this includes liability insurance for cyclists. Anyone have any experience with this?

More information can be found here

In cases where proof of liability insurance is required, I have always provided the declaration page from my homeowners/umbrella policy to satisfy the requirement.   I’ve never actually explored how/whether that would work in the event of an actual claim.

Dave.

When I went to Hokkaido last year they required $100 Million in liability insurance, which was above what my renters insurance provided, so I was required to get travellers insurance.
I spent some time investigating various travel insurance providers, but in the end went with the agency that the ride organizers suggested.

I know a group from Seattle just rode the Chiba 1200 - so maybe one of them can chime in on how they handled insurance
