I've been building my own wheels for at least a decade. I'm also a big fan of Velocity, particularly Aileron. I build probably a half dozen wheels using the A23 as well.
During Covid, they were hard to find, and I ended up building some wheels using Hunt and DT Swiss rims. Have been quite pleased with both.

I've been using most Velo Orange hubs lately. They switch between 9mm and thruaxle.
What sold me is that you can remove the freehub body by hand, which would be a big help when shipping.

I own a fiber fix spoke, and continue to hope I never have to use it!  :-)

Velocity makes great rims. I like Ailerons for disk brake wheels & build my

I buy whatever wheels they have in the shop. I can't imagine any kind of
wheel will help me go faster. I suppose spinning the pedals faster might
help though. :-)

If you find a great wheelbuilder, keep them!
