Did anyone else use these Illuminite arm warmers?
They seem like a great product for RUSA since so many rides have nighttime riding.

Good morning Eric,

Thank you for reaching out to illumiNITE! We sincerely appreciate your interest in our products.

Unfortunately, we have discontinued the arm and knee warmers that we used to carry. Although I do not foresee us restocking these items, I will talk with the design team and let them know that we have had recent inquiries about these products.

Hi,

I had a pair of Illuminite arm warmers years ago but I lost them.

I would really like to have them back for nighttime riding.

Do you have any plans for reintroducing this product line?

Knee warmers would also be great.

It's much safer to ride with this reflective type of clothing at night.

Regards,

Eric Peterson

Yes, I used them. I didn't find them especially great arm warmers. Compared to other brands I have used, the fit was a bit baggy and they weren't as warm for similar weight fabric. They were especially bad (no warmth) when wet, especially compared to my wool arm warmers.

Still, I liked the idea of greater reflectivity and having something on my arms. I began using reflective arm bands instead. Along with wearing the RUSA vest and the usual reflective ankle bands, I think it was a good addition. When I've signaled to make a left turn or with cars approaching from a road perpendicular to my direction of travel, I sense the cars have seen me better/sooner.

Yes I found them baggy too, but that was a plus since I could wear them over warmer arm warmers as a reflective layer.
I also had an Illuminite vest but the breathability was so bad that I gave it away.

I have used Illuminite arm and leg warmers and a vest.  As mentioned, they are quite baggy and not really warm.  In addition, the reflectivity of the Illuminite material wasn't really that bright.  The really impressive stuff now is the Proviz material, but if you want to talk about bad breathability... I have the more breathable vest and it is still only usable in the winter in California, but that's when it is darkest, so I guess that's good.  Proviz appears to have arm and leg warmers with reflective decals.  I haven't tried those, but the reflectivity of the Proviz material is outstanding.  I would love to hear reviews if anyone tries them.

Alternative suggestion ….
Rather than finding reflective apparel (that may/may not be ok), I add reflective stickers to my existing fav gear.

I find the Lightweights stickers amazingly reflective and put them on my bike and clothing.

Shine ✨ on!

Cima Coppi now makes jerseys and warmers with a big reflective strip on the front, back, and arms. I recently bought one of the jerseys and it's nice to hold but I haven't ridden with it yet. I am curious if the reflective area becomes uncomfortable to the skin after a while. Here's a photo of it at night with a flash:

The leg warmers have about as much reflective area as normal legbands around the calf and use the same reflective meterial. Unfortunately I got a size too small. They are OK as warmers but could really use a zipper around the bottom. My legs couldn't feel the reflective area for the 40ish miles I rode with them.
